A wonderful opportunity to join a national organisation as their Health and Safety Co-ordinator

This position will involve travel to a variety of sites throughout New Zealand.

As Health and Safety Co-ordinator you will be involved in:

  • Promoting the organisations H & S strategy through leading and supporting the organisations health & safety strategy.
  • Monitor and support sites health & safety performance.
  • Work with the National HS & E Manager to improve health & safety standards and awareness.
  • Foster strong relationships with and influence operational business areas.
  • Working with Managers and the HSE Manager, proactively deliver continuous improvements in all H&S management processes and metrics to improve overall site and business performance.
  • Assist in the implementation of initiatives to embed a strong H&S awareness culture.
  • Assist in the deployment of the organisations H&S Management System to improve standards.
  • Support the H&S audit programmes and support the closure of any corrective actions.
  • Support the integrity of H&S performance metrics.
  • Assist in the development, education, and training of  H & S 
  • Ensure contractors are approved 
  • Support the communication of H & S material to employees by all required means (e.g. involvement in tool-box talks, notice board communications, briefs, emails, etc).

Essential skills required for the Health and Safety Co-ordinator:

  • Proven, demonstrable experience in a similar role
  • Minimum of 3 years experience within an HSE or similar role.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft packages, such as, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels and be comfortable at interacting with senior managers.
  • Strong analytical capability and the ability to analyse data and find timely solutions to problems.
  • Hard working and conscientious.
  • Ability to proactively manage changing priorities and deadlines at short notice.
  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail skills.
