About the job Developer Experience Engineer | DevOps | SRE | Remote or Hybrid
About the Role
We are looking for a Developer Experience (DevEx) Engineer to help shape our approach to building, testing, deploying, and operating software. Your mission: empower engineering teams to move faster, build more reliably, and spend less time fighting infrastructure. You'll bring together SRE principles, scalable infrastructure, and a product mindset to improve engineering systems, workflows, and culture across the company.
Note: We understand this is a broad role. This is our first dedicated investment into DevEx, and we don't expect one person to handle everything forever. As the team grows, so will the scope. But if you're excited about driving meaningful change across some of these areas, let's talk.
What we are looking for
- 5+ years of experience in roles like SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering
- Deep hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including design and production troubleshooting
- Solid knowledge of Google Cloud Platform services (GKE, IAM, CloudSQL, Pub/Sub, etc.)
-
Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)
-
Strong understanding of CI/CD systems and release pipelines
Excellent communication skills and ability to align with engineers, PMs, and leadership
- Strong debugging and incident response skills across infra and application layers
- Production-grade experience with Java (Kotlin preferred); Go is a plus
-
Familiarity with DORA metrics and improving developer productivity
Bonus Points
-
Experience with GitOps workflows
-
Background in developer platform or internal tooling development
-
Familiarity with progressive delivery strategies: canary, blue/green, feature flags
-
Exposure to observability stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
-
Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
-
Experience evaluating and rolling out third-party DevEx tools
What You'll Do
- Build self-service workflows for deployment, testing, and observability
-
Lead reliability and system hardening initiatives
- Use DORA metrics (Deployment Frequency, Lead Time, Change Failure Rate, MTTR) to identify bottlenecks and drive measurable improvements across the SDLC.
- Enhance the on-call experience with better tooling, processes, and documentation
-
Support engineers during incidents with hands-on troubleshooting and guidance
-
Design, manage, and evolve our Kubernetes-based infrastructure
-
Develop and roll out deployment strategies like blue/green, canary, and shadow deployments
-
Work with teams to implement safe release and rollback patterns
-
Maintain and improve our cloud infrastructure on GCP
-
Own and enhance our CI/CD pipelines and shared platform tooling
-
Ensure the stability, scalability, and security of core infrastructure
-
Evaluate and introduce developer tools that align with team needs and workflows
