Key Responsibilities:

We are looking for a DBA with a strong focus on application-level performance tuning, particularly around query and index optimization in SQL Server environments.

Optimize complex queries and indexes to improve database performance.

Train and mentor junior developers on writing efficient SQL queries.

Support data purge processes to maintain database health.

Keep indexes up to date and ensure optimal database performance.

Requirements:

5+ years of experience in DBA

Strong hands-on experience in SQL Server, exclusively focused on writing and optimizing queries (not infrastructure, user management, or support tickets).

Think of it as a developer-leaning DBA, fully immersed in SQL.

The databases are hosted on VMs (not cloud-based).

Should be open and eager to learn new technologies, with a mindset for potential future transitions to other database engines like PostgreSQL or CosmosDB.

Remuneration:

Compensation in US dollars as contractor.
