Job Opportunity: Senior Shopify Developer

About the Role
This role is critical as it manages the entire Shopify environment and several connected systems within a highly customized ecosystem (not vanilla Shopify). You will take ownership of the implementation, reduce tech debt, and establish best practices across development and operations.

Architecture Context
Shopify is central to the clients ecosystem and integrates with:

  • Custom APIs: Discount, Subscription, Deferred Payments, Checkout Extensions.

  • AWS Services: Lambdas, DynamoDB, Cognito, Step Functions.

  • Third-party providers: Recharge, Segment, Braze, MUX, SES, PayPal, etc.

  • Frontend stack: Next.js, Gatsby, React (including mobile & TV apps), NGINX, CloudFront.

Why This Matters

  • Currently, there is no documentation or checks-and-balances (one-person dependency).

  • The client needs someone who can:

    • Own the entire Shopify implementation confidently.

    • Reduce technical debt and improve practices (PR reviews, Jira, GitHub workflows).

    • Support process gaps and ensure stability during critical periods (holidays, ADA initiatives).

Requirements

  • 5 - 7 years of experience with Shopify (Liquid, APIs, apps, custom tools).

  • Strong background in integrations (AWS Lambdas, APIs, third-party apps).

  • Ability to work end-to-end with minimal documentation.

  • Experience balancing cost efficiency and technical excellence.

  • Comfortable working as a solo developer in a complex ecosystem.
