About the job Remote | Attorney (Litigation & Legal Advisory) — $60–$100/hour
We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced attorneys with strong backgrounds in litigation, legal drafting, statutory interpretation, and client advisory work.
This role focuses on reviewing legal content and professional workflows across realistic practice scenarios. Selected attorneys will assess legal memoranda, contracts, case analyses, litigation strategies, and advisory materials for legal accuracy, reasoning quality, drafting rigour, and overall professional credibility.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Analysis & Reasoning
- Evaluate legal analyses for accuracy, completeness, and logical consistency
- Assess application of statutes, precedent, and legal principles to specific factual scenarios
- Identify unsupported conclusions, incorrect legal reasoning, and material omissions
- Review whether legal arguments appropriately address competing interpretations
- Apply practical judgement grounded in real-world legal practice
Litigation & Case Strategy
- Review scenarios involving civil or criminal litigation
- Evaluate case analyses, litigation strategies, and procedural recommendations
- Assess strengths, weaknesses, risks, and alternative legal approaches
- Identify gaps in issue spotting or application of relevant authorities
- Review whether recommended strategies are realistic and professionally defensible
Legal Drafting
- Evaluate legal memoranda, agreements, pleadings, correspondence, and other professional documents
- Assess drafting for clarity, precision, structure, and legal effectiveness
- Identify ambiguous provisions, inconsistent reasoning, or incomplete analysis
- Review whether documents accurately reflect the intended legal position
- Evaluate the quality of supporting arguments and explanations
Contracts & Transactional Matters
- Review legal scenarios involving contracts and commercial transactions
- Assess contractual language, obligations, risks, and proposed revisions
- Evaluate legal advice relating to transactions and agreements
- Identify material drafting or interpretation issues
- Review whether recommendations appropriately balance legal and practical considerations
Statutory & Precedent Analysis
- Evaluate interpretation and application of statutory provisions
- Review use of judicial precedent and supporting legal authorities
- Assess whether cited principles meaningfully support the stated conclusion
- Identify incomplete or inconsistent treatment of relevant law
- Evaluate competing legal interpretations where appropriate
Client Advisory Review
- Assess legal recommendations provided in response to client scenarios
- Evaluate whether advice is responsive to the client's objectives and factual circumstances
- Identify missing legal risks or practical considerations
- Review whether complex legal issues are communicated clearly
- Assess the overall usefulness and credibility of proposed legal advice
Comparative Legal Evaluation
- Compare alternative legal responses or analyses side by side
- Assess outputs based on legal reasoning, precedent application, and drafting quality
- Identify meaningful differences between stronger and weaker approaches
- Determine whether conclusions are adequately supported by relevant law and facts
- Provide clear reasoning supporting evaluation decisions
Structured Evaluation & Feedback
- Review legal work products for accuracy and professional quality
- Identify substantive legal, analytical, and drafting weaknesses
- Distinguish material legal issues from minor stylistic differences
- Provide concise, evidence-based written feedback
- Apply evaluation standards consistently across assignments
Ideal Profile
- 4+ years of relevant professional legal experience
- Experience as an Attorney, Lawyer, Counsel, General Counsel, Prosecutor, or another closely related legal practitioner
- Experience representing clients in civil and/or criminal proceedings
- Strong experience drafting legal documents or advising on legal transactions
- Practical understanding of litigation strategy, statutory interpretation, legal research, and client advisory work
- Ability to assess legal arguments, precedent application, and drafting quality
- Strong analytical judgement and attention to legal detail
- Strong written English communication skills
- Ability to work independently and provide precise professional feedback
Engagement Details
- Part-time independent contractor engagement
- Fully remote
- Availability of 20+ hours per week
- Immediate start
- Initial project duration of approximately 4–6 weeks
- Compensation: $60–$100/hour for hourly project work
- The initial assignment is task-based; contributors who successfully complete and receive approval for their first task may then qualify for hourly work for the remainder of the project
- Work includes evaluation of legal memoranda, contracts, case analyses, litigation strategies, statutory interpretation, and client advisory scenarios
- Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on project needs and performance
- Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, law firm, institution, or other third party
- H1-B and STEM OPT support is unavailable for this engagement
