About the job Remote | Intellectual Property Law Specialist (Trademark & Copyright) — $70–$110/hour
We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced intellectual property professionals with strong expertise in trademark, copyright, IP protection, legal analysis, and professional legal review.
This role focuses on reviewing professional documents, spreadsheets, and presentation materials involving intellectual property law. Selected experts will assess outputs for legal accuracy, analytical rigour, completeness, presentation quality, and overall professional credibility.
Key Responsibilities
Intellectual Property Law Review
- Evaluate work products involving intellectual property rights and related legal issues
- Assess whether legal conclusions are accurate, complete, and appropriately supported
- Identify incorrect legal principles, unsupported assumptions, and material omissions
- Review application of relevant IP concepts to realistic commercial and legal scenarios
- Apply experienced legal judgement across different forms of intellectual property
Trademark Analysis
- Review materials involving trademark protection, use, registration, and enforcement
- Assess legal reasoning relating to distinctiveness, likelihood of confusion, and brand protection
- Identify gaps or inconsistencies in trademark analyses
- Evaluate recommendations involving trademark risk and portfolio considerations
- Review whether conclusions are appropriately supported by the facts and applicable legal principles
Copyright Analysis
- Evaluate work products involving copyright ownership, protection, licensing, and infringement
- Review analyses of authorship, rights allocation, permitted use, and related issues
- Assess whether copyright conclusions follow logically from the available facts
- Identify unsupported claims or incomplete treatment of relevant rights
- Evaluate practical implications for businesses, creators, and rights holders
IP Risk & Rights Management
- Review legal analyses involving ownership, licensing, commercialisation, and enforcement of IP rights
- Assess potential infringement and rights-clearance issues
- Evaluate contractual or commercial implications of intellectual property arrangements
- Identify material legal risks, conflicting rights, or incomplete analysis
- Review recommendations for practical and legal credibility
Legal Documents & Work Products
- Evaluate legal memoranda, reports, spreadsheets, and slide decks for accuracy and completeness
- Review executive or stakeholder presentations involving intellectual property matters
- Assess whether supporting analysis is logically structured and clearly communicated
- Identify factual, legal, analytical, aesthetic, and formatting issues
- Ensure conclusions and recommendations remain consistent with the underlying analysis
Structured Evaluation & Feedback
- Assess assigned outputs against domain-specific quality criteria
- Identify substantive legal, analytical, and presentation errors
- Distinguish material IP-law issues from minor editorial concerns
- Provide clear, structured written feedback explaining identified strengths and weaknesses
- Apply evaluation standards consistently across different intellectual property work products
Ideal Profile
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience in intellectual property law, trademark law, copyright law, IP advisory, or a closely related field
- Strong practical understanding of trademark and copyright law
- Experience reviewing intellectual property rights, protection strategies, licensing arrangements, or infringement issues
- Ability to identify material legal gaps, unsupported conclusions, and weaknesses in IP analysis
- Experience preparing or reviewing professional legal documents and advisory materials
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Advanced proficiency with PowerPoint / Google Slides
- Strong spreadsheet and analytical skills
- Native or professional fluency in English
- Excellent written communication and ability to provide precise, structured legal feedback
- Strong attention to legal, analytical, and presentation detail
- Master's degree or higher from a recognised institution is advantageous

- Part-time independent contractor engagement

- Compensation: $70–$110/hour
- Work includes evaluation of intellectual property, trademark, and copyright law documents, spreadsheets, and presentation materials
- Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on project needs and performance
- Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, rights holder, or other third party
