About the job Remote | Market Access Specialist — $170–$195/hour

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced payer and market access professionals with deep expertise in gross-to-net modelling, rebates, formulary strategy, pricing and reimbursement, and managed markets within the US pharmaceutical sector.

This role supports an expert evaluation initiative focused on commercial medicines and drug-development programmes. Selected professionals will develop and critique evaluation rubrics, pressure-test gross-to-net and formulary assumptions, and assess whether coverage, rebate, and tiering strategies accurately reflect real-world payer behaviour across different drug classes.

Key Responsibilities

Market Access & Payer Strategy

  • Evaluate market access strategies for commercial and development-stage pharmaceutical products
  • Assess payer behaviour across different therapeutic areas and drug classes
  • Review assumptions involving coverage, access restrictions, formulary placement, and reimbursement
  • Apply practical US managed-markets expertise to commercial analyses
  • Identify assumptions that are inconsistent with real-world payer decision-making

Gross-to-Net & Rebate Analysis

  • Develop and pressure-test gross-to-net assumptions
  • Evaluate rebate expectations across different drug classes and payer segments
  • Assess whether discounting and concession assumptions are commercially realistic
  • Review the relationship between list price, rebates, access, and net revenue
  • Identify unsupported or internally inconsistent gross-to-net assumptions

Formulary Strategy

  • Evaluate formulary-tier assumptions and expected product positioning
  • Assess potential preferred, non-preferred, restricted, or excluded formulary status
  • Review assumptions involving prior authorisation, step therapy, and other utilisation-management mechanisms
  • Analyse how competitive dynamics may influence formulary access
  • Assess whether proposed tiering strategies reflect realistic payer incentives

Rubric Development & Expert Review

  • Create structured evaluation rubrics for pharmaceutical market access analysis
  • Critique existing rubrics for completeness, realism, and commercial relevance
  • Define criteria reflecting experienced payer and market access judgment
  • Identify missing considerations or weak assumptions in analytical frameworks
  • Provide clear written reasoning supporting evaluation decisions

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates may have:

  • Advanced healthcare, commercial, or quantitative training may strengthen an application
  • Equivalent professional experience in pharmaceutical market access or pricing and reimbursement may also be considered

Nice to Have

  • Experience working directly with health plans, PBMs, or payer organisations
  • Background in pharmaceutical pricing strategy
