Job Openings Remote | IMO-Style Mathematics AI Reasoning Consultant — $45–$75/hour

About the job Remote | IMO-Style Mathematics AI Reasoning Consultant — $45–$75/hour

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for mathematics professionals experienced in Olympiad-style problem writing, advanced proof-based reasoning, mathematical solution review, competition-level problem setting, and structured evaluation.

This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on AI mathematical reasoning evaluation, Olympiad-style problem development, proof review, solution quality assessment, and high-quality project execution. Selected professionals will create challenging mathematics problems, evaluate AI-generated solutions, identify logical flaws or incomplete reasoning, and provide clear written feedback based on detailed evaluation criteria.

Key Responsibilities

Professionals in this role may contribute to:

Olympiad-Style Problem Development

  • Write original, advanced mathematics problems inspired by Olympiad-level reasoning and proof-based competition formats
  • Develop challenging prompts that test mathematical creativity, rigor, problem-solving depth, and conceptual precision
  • Create clear, correct, and well-structured reference solutions for advanced mathematical problems
  • Maintain high standards for problem difficulty, originality, correctness, and mathematical elegance

AI Mathematical Solution Evaluation

  • Review AI-generated mathematical solutions for correctness, clarity, rigor, and completeness
  • Evaluate whether solutions use valid reasoning, appropriate proof structure, and precise mathematical language
  • Identify logical flaws, unsupported steps, incomplete arguments, insufficiently rigorous proofs, or incorrect conclusions
  • Compare solution approaches against expected standards for advanced competition-style mathematics

Structured Feedback & Quality Control

  • Provide clear, concise, and mathematically correct written feedback on solution quality
  • Explain evaluation decisions with consistency, precision, and strong mathematical judgment
  • Follow detailed task instructions and apply structured review criteria accurately
  • Participate in screening, onboarding, calibration, or problem-setting alignment activities when required

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates may have:

  • Demonstrated expertise in Olympiad-style mathematics, advanced problem solving, or competition-level mathematical reasoning
  • Experience writing original mathematics problems, reviewing solutions, or participating in problem selection processes
  • Strong ability to identify subtle reasoning errors, gaps in proof structure, or incomplete mathematical arguments
  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to explain mathematical reasoning clearly and precisely
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards of mathematical rigor
  • Comfort applying structured rubrics, evaluation criteria, and project-specific guidelines consistently
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, project-based environment

Educational Background

  • Advanced academic background in mathematics or a closely related quantitative field is highly relevant
  • Experience as a math competition problem writer, reviewer, selection committee participant, medalist, or advanced competition participant may be especially valuable
  • Academic or professional experience involving proof-based mathematics, mathematical research, contest preparation, teaching, tutoring, assessment design, or advanced problem solving is highly relevant
  • Backgrounds involving number theory, combinatorics, geometry, algebra, inequalities, functional equations, or other Olympiad-style areas may be valuable

Nice to Have

  • Experience writing or reviewing IMO-style, national Olympiad, or advanced competition mathematics problems
  • Familiarity with proof-based solution standards, rigorous mathematical exposition, and contest-style scoring expectations
  • Experience identifying elegant solution paths, hidden assumptions, logical shortcuts, or insufficiently justified reasoning
  • Comfort creating difficult problems that challenge advanced reasoning systems
  • Strong ability to maintain consistency across detail-oriented mathematical review tasks

Why This Opportunity

  • Apply Olympiad-style mathematics expertise to structured remote project work
  • Contribute to high-quality AI mathematical reasoning evaluation and advanced problem development
  • Use proof-based reasoning, problem-setting judgment, and mathematical precision in a focused evaluation environment
  • Work on flexible assignments aligned with advanced mathematics and written solution review strengths
  • Remote structure with competitive hourly compensation

Contract Details

  • Independent contractor role
  • Fully remote with flexible scheduling
  • Eligible professionals may be based in approved project locations depending on project needs
  • Part-time or task-based commitment depending on project availability, screening, and onboarding status
  • Competitive rates of $45–$75 per hour depending on expertise, problem difficulty, solution quality, task type, and project scope
  • A short screening interview or task may be required and may cover mathematics background, problem-writing experience, and project fit
  • Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise
  • Projects may be extended, shortened, or adjusted depending on scope and performance
  • Work will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution
