About the job Remote | Defense & Cleared Workforce Recruiter — $35–$65/hour
We are sharing a full-time opportunity for an experienced Defense & Cleared Workforce Recruiter with strong expertise in full-cycle recruiting, security-clearance requirements, cleared sourcing, military and veteran talent, and U.S. government-contracting workforce pipelines.
The role will focus on building and managing pipelines of highly qualified security-cleared professionals for mission-critical U.S. government and defence-sector positions. The ideal candidate combines deep familiarity with cleared talent markets, strong sourcing and stakeholder-management skills, and the ability to translate military backgrounds and clearance requirements into accurate role fit.
Key Responsibilities
Full-Cycle Cleared Recruiting
- Manage end-to-end recruiting across a diverse portfolio of security-cleared roles
- Source, evaluate, engage, and close candidates across multiple cleared domains and locations
- Maintain ownership from initial outreach through qualification, interview coordination, and offer stages
- Build structured recruiting workflows for hard-to-fill and location-constrained roles
- Deliver a strong candidate experience throughout the hiring process
Cleared Talent Sourcing & Pipeline Development
- Build and maintain pipelines of security-cleared professionals
- Recruit across federal civilians, military officers, veterans, enlisted and NCO personnel, and professionals with prior U.S. government experience
- Use specialised sourcing platforms such as ClearanceJobs, ClearedJobs.net, and comparable cleared-talent channels
- Leverage military-transition networks including SkillBridge, TAP, and Hiring Our Heroes
- Develop long-term candidate relationships within specialised defence and federal talent communities
Security Clearance Screening & Compliance
- Screen candidates for clearance level, current status, eligibility, and relevant requirements
- Work across clearance categories including Secret, TS, TS/SCI, and polygraph-related environments
- Understand reactivation windows, reciprocity, and appropriate compliance boundaries
- Use candidate self-reported information appropriately as an initial qualification step
- Coordinate formal verification with Facility Security Officers and customer security teams
Military & Veteran Talent Translation
- Interpret military occupational backgrounds, including MOS, rate, rank, and service history
- Translate military experience into civilian and government-contracting role requirements
- Engage credibly with transitioning service members and veterans
- Help candidates understand how their operational experience maps to relevant opportunities
- Build trust through informed and respectful communication with military communities
Hiring Manager & Stakeholder Partnership
- Partner closely with hiring managers to define role requirements and candidate profiles
- Set realistic recruiting timelines based on clearance, geography, and market constraints
- Advise stakeholders on cleared-talent availability and sourcing strategy
- Maintain clear communication throughout active searches
- Track recruiting metrics and pipeline performance to support informed decision-making
Ideal Profile
- 5–8 years of full-cycle recruiting experience
- Significant experience recruiting cleared, defence, federal, or GovCon talent
- Demonstrated success sourcing and placing security-cleared professionals
- Strong understanding of U.S. security-clearance levels and processes
- Familiarity with Secret, TS, TS/SCI, polygraph requirements, reciprocity, and reactivation considerations
- Experience working with FSOs or customer security offices
- Strong fluency in military and veteran backgrounds, including MOS and rate interpretation
- Advanced sourcing, screening, candidate-engagement, and stakeholder-management skills
- Experience building pipelines for hard-to-fill or geographically constrained positions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organised, metrics-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple requisitions
- U.S.-based recruiting professional
- Experience recruiting maritime, Navy, drone/UAS, combat-operator, or similarly specialised defence talent is advantageous
- Background as a military recruiter, FSO, or veteran is beneficial
- Familiarity with contingent, project-based, or RPO staffing models in the defence or federal sector is a plus
