About the job Remote | IT Project Management Research Contributor — Up to $55/hour
We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced IT project managers interested in contributing practical occupational insights through a short research survey and interview.
This role supports an occupational research initiative focused on improving how information technology project management work is documented and understood. Selected professionals will share first-hand insights into their responsibilities, workflows, tools, decision-making processes, and day-to-day activities through a one-time online survey or structured interview.
Key Responsibilities
Occupational Research Survey
- Complete a one-time online survey or interview about day-to-day work as an IT project manager
- Describe typical responsibilities, tasks, workflows, and professional activities
- Provide practical examples based on current or recent IT project management experience
- Help ensure occupational descriptions reflect how the role operates in real working environments
IT Project Management Insights
- Share information about project planning, delivery, coordination, and stakeholder communication
- Describe common tools, systems, methodologies, and reporting practices
- Explain how priorities, risks, timelines, resources, and project requirements are managed
- Provide clear and accurate responses grounded in direct professional experience
Optional Follow-Up Participation
- Participate in an additional survey, task, or brief interview if invited
- Clarify responses or provide further detail on specific aspects of IT project management
- Complete any optional follow-up work under separately confirmed compensation terms
- Maintain consistency and accuracy across research responses
Ideal Profile
Strong candidates may have:
- At least 2 years of professional experience specifically as an IT project manager
- Current or recent employment in an IT project management role
- Direct responsibility for planning, coordinating, and delivering technology projects
- Experience working with technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, or cross-functional departments
- Strong understanding of common IT project management responsibilities and workflows
- Ability to describe professional activities clearly and accurately
- Current location in the United States
Educational Background
- A degree in information technology, computer science, business, project management, engineering, or a related field is helpful
- Professional experience managing technology projects will carry significant weight
- Equivalent hands-on experience may be considered alongside or in place of formal academic qualifications
- Project management training or recognised professional credentials may be valuable
Nice to Have
- PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum, Agile, or comparable project management certification
- Experience with Jira, Microsoft Project, Asana, Monday.com, Smartsheet, or similar tools
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, hybrid, or enterprise project delivery methodologies
- Experience managing software development, infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, systems implementation, or digital transformation projects
- Background coordinating budgets, timelines, vendors, risks, and stakeholder reporting
- Previous participation in professional research, structured interviews, or occupational studies

Contract Details
- Independent contractor engagement
- Fully remote and available to professionals based in the United States
- Initial survey or interview expected to take up to 30 minutes
- Compensation calculated proportionally at an equivalent rate of up to $55 per hour
- Optional follow-up surveys, tasks, or interviews may be offered and compensated separately
- Participants must have genuinely worked as IT project managers
- Students or professionals with only general IT exposure will qualify only where they have direct IT project management experience
- Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise where applicable
- Work will not involve access to confidential or proprietary information from any employer, client, or institution
