About the job Remote | Singapore Domestic Tax Research Specialist — $90–$120/hour
We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for tax professionals with deep expertise in Singapore domestic taxation, technical tax research, statutory interpretation, and review of complex tax analyses.
This short-term role focuses on evaluating and improving AI-generated tax research relating exclusively to Singapore domestic tax law. Selected professionals will validate technical conclusions, assess statutory and administrative authorities, refine grading rubrics, and revise reference answers to reflect current legislation, IRAS guidance, and established tax practice.
Key Responsibilities
Singapore Tax Research Review
- Review Singapore domestic tax research questions and model-generated answers
- Evaluate technical analyses for accuracy, completeness, and professional quality
- Identify incorrect interpretations, unsupported conclusions, and missing tax considerations
- Assess whether responses apply Singapore domestic tax principles appropriately to the stated facts
Statutory & Authority Validation
- Review references to the Income Tax Act, GST Act, IRAS guidance, rulings, and related legislation
- Assess the relevance, authority, and accuracy of supporting tax sources
- Verify that conclusions align with applicable statutory provisions and administrative guidance
- Identify outdated, incomplete, or incorrectly applied authorities
Reference Answer & Rubric Development
- Review and improve gold-standard answers for complex Singapore tax questions
- Refine grading rubrics for technical accuracy, completeness, consistency, and clarity
- Define the essential elements required for a high-quality tax analysis
- Rewrite answers and scoring criteria where correction or clarification is required
- Ensure rubrics distinguish between minor omissions and material technical errors
Legislative & Policy Updates
- Verify that analyses reflect recent legislative, regulatory, and policy developments
- Review effective dates, transitional provisions, exemptions, reliefs, and procedural requirements
- Assess the treatment of complex domestic tax scenarios involving individuals and businesses
- Provide clear written explanations supporting recommended revisions
Ideal Profile
Strong candidates may have:
- At least 5 years of professional experience in Singapore taxation
- Deep expertise in Singapore domestic tax law
- Experience interpreting IRAS guidance, tax rulings, the Income Tax Act, GST Act, and related legislation
- Background preparing technical tax memoranda, advisory opinions, or complex research materials
- Strong understanding of tax research methodology and statutory interpretation
- Excellent analytical judgment, written communication, and attention to detail
- Availability to contribute approximately 10–20 hours per week
Educational Background
- Accredited Tax Practitioner qualification in Singapore is highly relevant
- CA Singapore, Chartered Accountant, or an equivalent professional qualification may also be considered
- A degree in taxation, accounting, finance, law, economics, or a related discipline is helpful
- Equivalent senior-level professional experience in Singapore tax advisory or technical tax research may also qualify
Nice to Have
- Expertise in Singapore Corporate Income Tax
- Experience with Individual Income Tax
- Strong knowledge of GST
- Familiarity with Withholding Tax requirements
- Experience with Property Tax or Stamp Duty
- Background in tax advisory, audits, controversy, or dispute resolution
- Familiarity with structured evaluation rubrics, reference-answer development, or AI-generated tax research
- Experience reviewing complex, multi-step tax analyses
