About the job Remote | Sales Manager (Strategy & Sales Operations) — $60–$100/hour
We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced Sales Managers with strong expertise in sales strategy, team leadership, quota and territory planning, sales operations, and performance analysis.
This role focuses on reviewing sales-management content and workflows across realistic commercial scenarios. Selected professionals will assess sales strategies, quota plans, training materials, territory designs, customer-resolution approaches, and performance analyses for strategic soundness, managerial quality, analytical rigour, and practical feasibility.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Management
- Evaluate sales strategies, management plans, and related work products for quality and accuracy
- Assess whether proposed approaches appropriately support revenue and commercial objectives
- Review sales priorities, team structures, and execution strategies
- Identify weak assumptions, unrealistic recommendations, and gaps in sales planning
- Apply professional judgement grounded in real-world sales management experience
Quota & Goal Setting
- Review sales quotas, targets, and performance goals
- Assess whether proposed targets are appropriately structured and internally consistent
- Evaluate quota-allocation approaches across teams, territories, or customer segments
- Identify unrealistic assumptions or poorly supported targets
- Review alignment between quotas, resources, and broader sales objectives
Territory Planning
- Evaluate sales-territory designs and allocation strategies
- Assess territory structure based on market opportunity, workload, coverage, and commercial priorities
- Identify imbalances or gaps in territory assignments
- Review recommendations for improving market coverage and sales effectiveness
- Evaluate whether territory decisions are practical for the intended sales organisation
Sales Team Leadership
- Review scenarios involving sales-team direction, coaching, performance management, and resource allocation
- Assess whether management approaches appropriately address team objectives and performance needs
- Evaluate sales training and enablement materials
- Identify gaps in communication, accountability, or team coordination
- Review recommendations for improving sales-team effectiveness
Sales Performance Analysis
- Evaluate sales reports, performance analyses, and supporting metrics
- Review revenue, attainment, pipeline, territory, and team-performance information
- Assess whether quantitative findings appropriately support stated conclusions
- Identify analytical inconsistencies or unsupported recommendations
- Evaluate performance trends and their implications for sales strategy
Customer & Escalation Management
- Review sales-management scenarios involving customer complaints or commercial escalations
- Assess prioritisation, communication, ownership, and proposed resolution approaches
- Evaluate whether recommendations appropriately balance customer relationships and business objectives
- Identify incomplete or impractical resolution strategies
- Review escalation decisions for managerial and commercial soundness
Comparative Sales Evaluation
- Compare alternative sales-management responses or approaches
- Assess outputs based on strategic soundness, team-leadership rigour, and market-analysis quality
- Identify meaningful differences between stronger and weaker solutions
- Determine whether recommendations are commercially and operationally defensible
- Provide clear reasoning supporting evaluation decisions
Structured Evaluation & Feedback
- Review sales-management work products for accuracy and professional quality
- Identify substantive strategic, analytical, managerial, and operational weaknesses
- Distinguish material sales issues from minor presentation concerns
- Provide concise, evidence-based written feedback
- Apply evaluation standards consistently across assignments
Ideal Profile
- 4+ years of relevant professional experience in sales management or a closely related commercial leadership role
- Experience as a Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager, District Sales Manager, Sales Director, Sales Operations Manager, or similar professional
- Demonstrated experience directing sales teams
- Experience setting sales territories, quotas, and goals
- Strong experience analysing sales performance to inform commercial strategy
- Practical understanding of sales-team leadership, territory planning, performance management, and customer escalation
- Strong written English communication skills
- Ability to work independently and provide precise professional feedback
Engagement Details
- Part-time independent contractor engagement
- Fully remote
- Availability of 20+ hours per week
- Immediate start
- Initial project duration of approximately 4–6 weeks
- Compensation: $60–$100/hour for hourly project work
- The initial assignment is task-based; contributors who successfully complete and receive approval for their first task may then qualify for hourly work for the remainder of the project
- Work includes evaluation of sales strategies, quota plans, territory designs, training materials, customer-resolution scenarios, and sales-performance analyses
- Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on project needs and performance
- Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, or other third party
