About the job Remote | Government & Public Administration Specialist — $70–$110/hour
We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced government and public administration professionals with strong expertise in public-sector operations, policy implementation, regulatory processes, budgeting, and administrative decision-making.
This role focuses on reviewing professional documents, spreadsheets, and presentation materials related to government and public administration. Selected experts will assess outputs for factual accuracy, policy and regulatory soundness, analytical rigour, operational realism, and overall professional credibility.
Key Responsibilities
Government Operations Review
- Evaluate work products involving government programmes, agency operations, and public-sector administration
- Assess whether proposed approaches reflect realistic government processes and institutional constraints
- Identify unsupported assumptions, operational gaps, and impractical recommendations
- Review coordination across departments, agencies, and public-sector stakeholders
- Apply professional judgement grounded in real-world government experience
Public Administration
- Review administrative plans, policies, procedures, and organisational workflows
- Assess whether responsibilities, governance structures, and implementation approaches are clearly defined
- Evaluate administrative efficiency, accountability, and operational feasibility
- Identify weaknesses in process design, oversight, or execution
- Review recommendations for improving public-sector service delivery and administration
Public Policy & Regulatory Analysis
- Evaluate policy analyses, regulatory materials, and implementation recommendations
- Assess whether conclusions are supported by appropriate evidence and reasoning
- Review interpretation of government policies, rules, and administrative requirements
- Identify gaps between policy objectives and proposed implementation
- Distinguish substantive policy issues from minor drafting or presentation concerns
Budgeting & Resource Management
- Review public-sector budgets, resource plans, and supporting analyses
- Assess assumptions involving programme costs, staffing, funding, and allocation decisions
- Evaluate whether financial recommendations align with operational priorities
- Identify inconsistencies between budgets, objectives, and implementation plans
- Review trade-offs involving cost, capacity, public value, and service delivery
Stakeholder & Interagency Coordination
- Evaluate scenarios involving multiple agencies, departments, community groups, or other stakeholders
- Review communication, escalation, and coordination approaches
- Assess whether stakeholder considerations are appropriately incorporated into decision-making
- Identify gaps in ownership, accountability, or interagency alignment
- Evaluate the practicality of proposed coordination strategies
Documents & Presentation Review
- Evaluate government reports, policy documents, spreadsheets, and slide decks for accuracy and completeness
- Review executive and stakeholder presentations for clarity, logical flow, and decision usefulness
- Identify factual, analytical, aesthetic, and formatting issues
- Assess whether charts, tables, and supporting materials accurately represent underlying information
- Ensure recommendations are clearly connected to evidence, policy objectives, and operational constraints
Structured Evaluation & Feedback
- Assess assigned outputs against domain-specific quality criteria
- Identify factual, policy, operational, analytical, and presentation errors
- Distinguish substantive public-administration weaknesses from minor editorial concerns
- Provide clear, structured written feedback explaining identified strengths and weaknesses
- Apply evaluation standards consistently across different government and public-sector work products
Ideal Profile
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience in government, public administration, public policy, government affairs, regulatory administration, or a closely related field
- Strong practical understanding of government operations and administrative processes
- Experience reviewing or developing policies, programmes, budgets, reports, or public-sector initiatives
- Ability to assess operational feasibility, policy implementation, and regulatory considerations
- Strong understanding of stakeholder coordination and public-sector decision-making
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Advanced proficiency with PowerPoint / Google Slides
- Strong spreadsheet and analytical skills
- Native or professional fluency in English
- Excellent written communication and ability to provide precise, structured feedback
- Strong attention to policy, operational, analytical, and presentation detail
- Master's degree or higher from a recognised institution is advantageous

- Work includes evaluation of government and public administration documents, spreadsheets, reports, and presentation materials
- Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on project needs and performance
- Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, government agency, client, institution, or other third party
