About the job Remote | Senior UX/UI Product Designer — $145–$195/hour
We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for UK-based UX/UI product designers with experience delivering complex digital products and collaborating closely with web engineering teams.
This role supports a research initiative focused on creating, reviewing, and evaluating high-quality digital product design scenarios. Selected professionals will apply practical experience across user journeys, interface systems, responsive web design, technical constraints, and design-to-engineering handoff for functional web products.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Product Design
- Create and evaluate UX/UI scenarios for complex web-based products
- Design user journeys, product flows, wireframes, interfaces, and interactive experiences
- Assess whether proposed solutions support usability, clarity, accessibility, and commercial objectives
- Apply practical judgment across discovery, concept development, prototyping, validation, and delivery
Complex Web Product Evaluation
- Review experiences involving e-commerce, marketplaces, booking systems, onboarding, checkout, and account management
- Evaluate logged-in customer portals, self-service platforms, dashboards, and internal operational tools
- Identify gaps in navigation, information architecture, interaction design, and task completion
- Compare alternative design approaches and explain which solution performs more effectively
Design Systems & Interface Quality
- Evaluate component-based design systems, reusable patterns, and interface consistency
- Review typography, spacing, hierarchy, responsive behaviour, states, and visual polish
- Assess whether components scale effectively across screens, products, and user scenarios
- Identify inconsistencies that may affect usability, implementation, or product quality
Design-to-Engineering Collaboration
- Translate design intent into clear specifications and implementation-ready documentation
- Evaluate front-end constraints, responsive layouts, component behaviour, and web implementation trade-offs
- Collaborate effectively with product managers, engineers, researchers, and data teams
- Provide clear written feedback grounded in both design quality and technical feasibility
Ideal Profile
Strong candidates may have:
- Significant professional experience in UX/UI or digital product design
- Experience delivering end-to-end functional web products rather than brand-only or marketing-site work
- A strong portfolio demonstrating complex user flows, interface systems, and product outcomes
- Experience designing e-commerce platforms, marketplaces, portals, booking systems, onboarding journeys, or operational dashboards
- Strong understanding of responsive design, front-end constraints, and component-based development
- Experience working closely with product managers and engineering teams
- Excellent written communication and the ability to justify design decisions clearly
- Current residence in the United Kingdom with the right to work in the UK
Educational Background
- A degree in product design, interaction design, user experience, human-computer interaction, visual communication, or a related discipline is helpful
- Formal training in interface design, user research, information architecture, or digital product development is highly relevant
- Equivalent professional experience supported by a strong portfolio may also be considered
- Technical education or hands-on exposure to front-end web development may be especially valuable
Nice to Have
- Experience at a recognised digital product studio, UX consultancy, technology company, or product engineering agency
- Background in e-commerce, marketplaces, SaaS, fintech, travel, retail, or customer-service platforms
- Experience designing internal tools, admin panels, or operations dashboards
- Strong knowledge of design systems and reusable component libraries
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or modern front-end frameworks
- Experience working with analytics, experimentation, usability testing, or product performance data
- Previous involvement in structured design evaluation, research programmes, or AI-assisted product workflows
Why This Opportunity
