Remote | Staff Software Engineer, Mobile (Android, Kotlin, Full Stack) — $50–$90/hour

We are sharing a full-time opportunity for experienced Staff Software Engineers with strong expertise in native mobile development, Android, Kotlin, full-stack engineering, backend services, APIs, and modern AI-assisted development workflows.

Selected professionals will build and ship customer-facing mobile features, primarily for Android, while contributing across backend, API, and web systems when needed. The role is particularly suited to engineers who enjoy owning features end to end, working across multiple layers of the stack, and collaborating closely with product, UX, and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Native Mobile Engineering

• Build and ship production features for native mobile applications
• Develop primarily for Android using Kotlin
• Apply modern Android development practices across feature implementation
• Contribute to reliable, maintainable, and user-focused mobile experiences
• Support mobile features throughout development, testing, and production

Full-Stack Development

• Contribute beyond mobile across backend services and APIs
• Support web application development where project needs require it
• Work effectively across unfamiliar parts of the technical stack
• Connect mobile functionality with supporting platform services
• Maintain consistent engineering quality across application layers

Technical Design & Code Quality

• Participate in technical design and implementation planning
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive engineering feedback
• Apply strong software-design, testing, and debugging practices
• Identify technical issues and support effective resolution
• Maintain scalable and maintainable code across assigned features

AI-Assisted Engineering & Emerging Capabilities

• Use AI-powered development tools as part of normal engineering workflows
• Apply tools such as Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or comparable systems
• Use AI assistance to navigate unfamiliar code and accelerate development
• Evaluate generated code carefully before integration into production systems
• Contribute to AI-enabled product capabilities where relevant

Product Collaboration & Technical Leadership

• Work closely with Product, UX, and partner engineering teams
• Own features from initial design through production delivery
• Participate in production support and ongoing feature improvement
• Help other engineers grow through technical guidance and knowledge sharing
• Communicate engineering decisions clearly across collaborative teams

Ideal Profile

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong hands-on native mobile development experience
• Android development experience using Kotlin is strongly preferred
• Familiarity with Jetpack and modern Android development practices
• iOS and Swift experience is also valuable
• Flutter or React Native experience is relevant when combined with native mobile development
• Production experience beyond mobile, including backend services, APIs, or web applications
• Strong fundamentals in software design, testing, and debugging
• Comfortable using AI coding tools in day-to-day development
• Ability to learn unfamiliar technologies and codebases efficiently
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Collaborative and curious engineering mindset
• Experience with LLM-powered functionality such as RAG, embeddings, or agents is advantageous
• Familiarity with accessibility standards is beneficial
• Experience building applications involving accounts, payments, or orders is valuable

Engagement Details

• Full-time engagement
• Remote — United States only
• Compensation: $50–$90/hour
• Expected commitment is 40 hours per week during weekdays
• Work will focus primarily on native Android development using Kotlin
• Assignments may also involve backend services, APIs, web applications, and full-stack feature delivery
• Engineers will participate in technical design, code review, production support, and cross-functional collaboration
• AI-powered developer tools are part of the expected engineering workflow
• Opportunities may include work involving LLM-powered features, accessibility, account systems, payments, or order-based applications
• Strong end-to-end ownership and cross-stack adaptability are central to this role
