We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for PhD-level physicists interested in contributing to the evaluation and improvement of advanced AI systems.

This role supports collaborations with leading AI teams focused on improving how conversational AI models reason about physical systems, mathematical relationships, and fundamental scientific principles across theoretical and applied physics.

Experts will evaluate AI-generated responses related to physics topics, ensuring conceptual accuracy, quantitative rigor, and scientifically grounded reasoning aligned with modern physics research.

Key Responsibilities

Write and refine prompts that guide AI model behavior in physics contexts
Evaluate AI-generated responses to physics-related questions for conceptual accuracy and mathematical correctness
Verify physical claims and derivations using domain expertise and authoritative public sources
Annotate responses by identifying strengths, inaccuracies, and conceptual gaps
Assess clarity, structure, and appropriateness of explanations for different audiences
Apply structured evaluation frameworks and benchmarking standards
Ensure responses align with expected scientific rigor and conversational guidelines

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates will have:

PhD in Physics or a closely related field

Expertise in one or more of the following areas:

Classical Mechanics & Dynamics
Electromagnetism, Optics & Signals
Thermodynamics & Statistical Physics
Quantum Physics
Relativity, Cosmology & High-Energy Physics

Additional qualities include:

Experience working with large language models (LLMs)
Excellent technical writing and explanation skills
Strong quantitative reasoning and analytical thinking
Ability to identify subtle conceptual or mathematical issues in physics explanations

Location Requirements

Nice-to-Have Experience

Experience with RLHF, model evaluation, or AI data annotation
Teaching or mentoring experience in physics
Familiarity with evaluation rubrics or structured review frameworks
Experience reviewing or editing technical or academic writing
