We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced finance and accounting professionals with strong expertise in financial analysis, accounting processes, reporting, auditing, budgeting, and professional financial work-product review.

This role focuses on reviewing professional documents, spreadsheets, and presentation materials related to finance and accounting. Selected experts will assess outputs for financial accuracy, accounting soundness, analytical rigour, internal consistency, presentation quality, and overall professional credibility.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Analysis

  • Evaluate financial analyses, reports, and supporting work products for accuracy and completeness
  • Assess whether calculations, assumptions, and conclusions are internally consistent
  • Identify unsupported financial conclusions, analytical errors, and missing considerations
  • Review financial performance, trends, and supporting metrics
  • Apply professional judgement grounded in real-world finance experience

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Review accounting-related documents and financial reporting materials
  • Assess the accuracy and consistency of financial statements, schedules, and supporting analyses
  • Identify classification, reconciliation, or reporting inconsistencies
  • Evaluate whether accounting conclusions are supported by the underlying information
  • Review financial reporting materials for clarity and professional quality

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Evaluate budgets, forecasts, and financial planning materials
  • Review assumptions involving revenue, expenses, cash flow, and financial performance
  • Assess whether projections are supported by available information
  • Identify unrealistic assumptions or inconsistencies between models and conclusions
  • Evaluate scenario and sensitivity analyses where relevant

Audit & Financial Controls

  • Review materials involving audit, financial controls, reconciliations, and accounting processes
  • Assess whether identified issues are supported by appropriate evidence
  • Evaluate control gaps, inconsistencies, and reporting weaknesses
  • Review recommendations for improving financial accuracy and process reliability
  • Distinguish substantive financial issues from minor presentation concerns

Spreadsheet & Quantitative Review

  • Evaluate spreadsheets used for financial and accounting analysis
  • Review formulas, calculations, assumptions, tables, and supporting schedules
  • Identify mathematical, logical, or consistency errors
  • Assess whether spreadsheet outputs support the stated financial conclusions
  • Review the clarity and usability of financial models and analyses

Documents & Presentation Review

  • Evaluate finance and accounting reports, spreadsheets, documents, and slide decks for accuracy and completeness
  • Review presentations for logical flow, clarity, and decision usefulness
  • Identify factual, analytical, aesthetic, and formatting issues
  • Assess whether charts, tables, and visuals accurately represent underlying financial information
  • Ensure conclusions and recommendations are clearly supported by the analysis

Structured Evaluation & Feedback

  • Assess assigned outputs against domain-specific quality criteria
  • Identify financial, accounting, analytical, factual, and presentation weaknesses
  • Distinguish substantive domain issues from minor editorial concerns
  • Provide clear, structured written feedback explaining identified strengths and weaknesses
  • Apply evaluation standards consistently across different finance and accounting work products

Ideal Profile

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in finance, accounting, financial analysis, audit, controllership, financial management, or a closely related field
  • Experience as an Accountant, Financial Analyst, Auditor, Controller, Finance Manager, Senior Accountant, or similar finance professional
  • Strong practical understanding of financial analysis, accounting processes, reporting, budgeting, and financial controls
  • Experience developing or reviewing financial statements, reports, budgets, forecasts, models, or accounting work products
  • Strong quantitative judgement and ability to evaluate financial calculations and assumptions
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Advanced proficiency with PowerPoint / Google Slides
  • Strong spreadsheet and analytical skills
  • Native or professional fluency in English
  • Excellent written communication and ability to provide precise, structured feedback
  • Strong attention to financial, accounting, analytical, and presentation detail
  • Master's degree or higher from a recognised institution is advantageous

Engagement Details

  • Part-time independent contractor engagement
  • Fully remote
  • Flexible scheduling based on project requirements
  • Compensation: $70–$110/hour
  • Work includes evaluation of finance and accounting documents, spreadsheets, reports, analyses, and presentation materials
  • Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on project needs and performance
  • Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, or other third party
