About the job Remote | Healthcare Regulatory & Privacy Lawyer — $90–$110/hour
We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced regulatory, privacy, compliance, and healthcare lawyers with substantive expertise across financial-services regulation, healthcare data privacy, ESG disclosure, and healthcare enforcement matters.
This role involves reviewing realistic regulatory and healthcare legal matters and comparing multiple blinded legal work products for correctness, completeness, judgement, and practical usefulness. Selected lawyers will provide structured preference decisions and concise written reasoning grounded in their professional legal experience.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance
- Review matters involving regulatory compliance programmes and internal controls
- Assess legal analysis relating to Investment Advisers Act Rule 206(4)-7
- Evaluate compliance policies, procedures, and related legal conclusions
- Identify substantive errors, omissions, or unsupported regulatory interpretations
- Apply practical judgement grounded in regulatory and compliance practice
Healthcare & Pharmaceutical Data Privacy
- Review matters involving clinical, pharmaceutical, and healthcare data
- Assess privacy issues under HIPAA and applicable state privacy laws
- Evaluate handling, use, disclosure, and protection of sensitive health information
- Identify gaps or inaccuracies in privacy analysis
- Assess whether recommendations appropriately reflect healthcare data obligations
Healthcare Regulatory Matters
- Evaluate legal work involving healthcare regulatory requirements
- Review matters involving provider, pharmaceutical, or healthcare-sector compliance
- Assess legal and operational implications of regulatory requirements
- Identify incomplete or inaccurate treatment of healthcare compliance issues
- Apply practical judgement to complex healthcare regulatory scenarios
False Claims Act & Government Investigations
- Review matters involving DOJ False Claims Act Civil Investigative Demands
- Assess response strategies, legal analysis, and supporting documentation
- Evaluate potential exposure and investigative considerations
- Identify weaknesses or omissions in proposed approaches
- Review whether legal recommendations appropriately address enforcement risk
Anti-Kickback & Stark Law
- Evaluate matters involving the Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark Law
- Review financial relationships, referral arrangements, and related compliance issues
- Assess whether legal analysis appropriately addresses relevant restrictions and exceptions
- Identify unsupported conclusions or missing regulatory considerations
- Apply substantive healthcare fraud-and-abuse judgement
ESG & Sustainability Disclosure
- Review matters involving ESG and sustainability disclosure
- Assess regulatory and disclosure obligations
- Evaluate the accuracy and completeness of proposed legal analysis
- Identify material omissions or potentially misleading interpretations
- Review recommendations for practical regulatory usefulness
Blinded Legal Work Product Comparison
- Read a synthetic legal matter and its underlying documents
- Review six blinded legal deliverables, labelled A–F
- Complete five head-to-head comparisons against a common comparator output
- Assess each work product holistically rather than focusing on isolated drafting differences
- Select the stronger response based on substantive legal quality
Legal Quality Evaluation
- Assess work products for correctness, completeness, judgement, and usefulness
- Identify material legal errors or omissions
- Evaluate whether reasoning is coherent and adequately supported
- Assess whether recommendations would be useful in actual legal practice
- Distinguish substantive quality differences from minor stylistic preferences
Written Legal Reasoning
- Provide a short, specific rationale for every preference decision
- Explain the legal and practical considerations supporting each judgement
- Reference relevant strengths, weaknesses, or omissions in reviewed work
- Maintain precise and professional written English
- Follow project instructions and evaluation criteria consistently
Ideal Profile
- Qualified lawyer with substantive professional experience in regulatory law, healthcare law, privacy, or compliance

Strong experience in one or more of the following:
- Investment adviser compliance
- Rule 206(4)-7 compliance programmes
- HIPAA and healthcare data privacy
- State privacy law
- ESG and sustainability disclosure
- False Claims Act investigations
- Anti-Kickback Statute analysis
- Stark Law
- Able to evaluate legal work holistically for correctness, completeness, judgement, and practical usefulness
- Strong regulatory and legal analytical skills
- Precise written English
- Comfortable comparing competing legal approaches and explaining preference decisions
- Able to work independently against detailed written instructions and deadlines
Engagement Details
- Part-time independent contractor engagement
- Fully remote
- Compensation: $90–$110/hour
- Expected commitment: approximately 30 hours across the engagement
- Work consists primarily of reviewing realistic regulatory, privacy, and healthcare matters and comparing blinded legal work products
- All project work is subject to NDA and confidentiality requirements
- External AI tools must not be used on project materials
- Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on project needs and performance
- Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, or other third party
- H1-B and STEM OPT support is unavailable for this engagement
