Job Openings Remote | Manufacturing Operations Evaluation Consultant — $45–$55/hour

About the job Remote | Manufacturing Operations Evaluation Consultant — $45–$55/hour

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced manufacturing, production, engineering, procurement, and warehouse professionals to evaluate realistic professional work products within their own field.

This role focuses on reviewing completed AI-generated manufacturing and operations work rather than producing or recreating the underlying deliverables. Selected professionals will assess whether tasks reflect real industrial practice, whether technical and operational content is accurate, and whether existing grading and quality scores are justified.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Work Product Review

  • Review completed work products representing realistic manufacturing, engineering, procurement, production, or warehouse tasks
  • Examine task instructions, supporting files, completed deliverables, and evaluation results
  • Determine whether outputs reflect genuine plant and operational workflows
  • Identify substantive technical, operational, quality, or process issues
  • Assess whether completed work would be usable or acceptable in a real manufacturing environment

Task Realism Assessment

  • Evaluate whether assignments accurately represent work performed in your profession
  • Assess whether task descriptions, constraints, figures, and expected deliverables are realistic
  • Distinguish authentic manufacturing scenarios from borderline or contrived tasks
  • Consider practical shop-floor, procurement, engineering, inventory, and production requirements
  • Provide concise explanations supporting each judgement

Production & Operations Review

  • Evaluate production schedules, operating procedures, workflow decisions, and related documentation
  • Assess whether proposed methods are practical in a real plant or production environment
  • Identify unrealistic assumptions involving labour, equipment, capacity, throughput, or sequencing
  • Review operational constraints and dependencies
  • Apply hands-on manufacturing judgement to quality assessments

Engineering & Process Accuracy

  • Review technical assumptions, calculations, specifications, and engineering documentation
  • Assess whether designs, process recommendations, and manufacturing decisions are technically credible
  • Identify inconsistencies involving parts, systems, layouts, methods, or production processes
  • Evaluate capacity, throughput, time-study, and workflow considerations where relevant
  • Detect issues that may be missed by reviewers without practical engineering experience

Quality & Root-Cause Review

  • Assess root-cause investigations and corrective-action reasoning
  • Review quality-control documentation and inspection-related work
  • Evaluate scenarios involving PPAP, first-article inspection, method sheets, or process deviations where relevant
  • Identify weak or unsupported conclusions
  • Assess whether proposed corrective actions are realistic and appropriate

Procurement & Supplier Review

  • Evaluate purchasing and supplier-related scenarios
  • Review purchase-order, supplier-selection, and negotiation considerations
  • Assess whether commercial and operational assumptions reflect real procurement practice
  • Identify inconsistencies involving supplier obligations, lead times, pricing, or delivery expectations
  • Apply practical experience managing supplier accountability

Inventory & Warehouse Review

  • Review receiving, inventory, cycle-count, and warehouse-related work products
  • Evaluate inventory figures and reconciliation logic
  • Identify inconsistencies involving stock accuracy, receiving records, or count variances
  • Assess whether warehouse procedures reflect realistic operational practice
  • Apply practical judgement from hands-on plant or warehouse environments

Grading & Evaluation Review

  • Review existing yes/no grading decisions against completed work
  • Assess issues such as requirement compliance, fabricated figures, terminology, technical accuracy, and formatting
  • Identify grading decisions that are unsupported by the underlying evidence
  • Explain clearly where and why you agree or disagree with an evaluation
  • Apply consistent professional standards across reviewed assignments

Quality & Score Assessment

  • Independently assess the overall quality of each work product
  • Determine whether an experienced practitioner could realistically use or accept the output
  • Assign an appropriate quality band based on professional standards
  • Compare your judgement with the reported evaluation score
  • Identify cases where scoring does not accurately reflect the quality of the work

Ideal Profile

Applicants should have hands-on professional experience in one of the following areas:

Purchasing & Procurement

  • 5+ years of experience placing purchase orders and negotiating with suppliers
  • Direct accountability for supplier performance and commercial decisions
  • Practical understanding of procurement documentation and supplier management
  • Experience resolving real sourcing, delivery, or purchasing issues

Production Supervision

  • 5+ years of experience supervising production or operating workers
  • Hands-on responsibility for production schedules and shift or line performance
  • Experience managing people and operational priorities on the plant floor
  • Strong understanding of real production constraints and workflows

Mechanical Engineering

  • 4+ years of professional experience designing parts or systems that progressed into physical production
  • Strong practical understanding of manufacturability and engineering documentation
  • Experience reviewing technical specifications and design-related work
  • PE qualification is advantageous but not required

Industrial Engineering

  • 3+ years of professional experience conducting capacity, throughput, layout, or time studies
  • Experience implementing improvements that changed real plant operations
  • Strong understanding of production processes and workflow optimisation
  • Ability to assess operational data and process assumptions

Shipping, Receiving & Inventory

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in warehouse or plant inventory operations
  • Responsibility for receiving, cycle counts, and inventory accuracy
  • Experience investigating and resolving inventory variances
  • Strong practical understanding of warehouse documentation and controls

Additional Requirements

  • Strong hands-on manufacturing or operational delivery experience
  • Experience with activities such as root-cause investigations, PPAP, first-article inspections, cycle-count reconciliation, or production-method review is particularly valuable
  • Near-native business English
  • Ability to provide concise written explanations for professional judgements
  • Comfortable reviewing spreadsheets, PDFs, and related professional documents
  • Able to verify figures, calculations, and internal consistency
  • Candidates whose experience is primarily limited to planning software without substantial operational exposure are less aligned with this engagement
  • Engineers whose work has been limited primarily to simulation without implementation experience are also less suited to the role

Engagement Details

  • Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, or other third party
  • H1-B and STEM OPT support is unavailable for this engagement
