Remote | Software Engineer, New Grad — $60–$80/hour

We are sharing a specialised full-time remote opportunity for recent graduates and early-career Software Engineers with strong foundations in full-stack development, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node.js, and relational databases to contribute to the development of modern internal platforms and AI-powered applications.

Selected professionals will work alongside experienced engineers to build production-ready software features, develop backend services and frontend interfaces, and improve the reliability of internal platforms. The role offers hands-on experience across the full software development lifecycle, including application architecture, database design, testing, deployment, and technical collaboration, with opportunities to take increasing ownership of core systems and product capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Full-Stack Application Development

• Contribute to the design and implementation of end-to-end software features for internal platforms.
• Build functional, maintainable applications using modern frontend and backend technologies.
• Participate in technical planning and implementation discussions with experienced engineers.
• Develop an understanding of scalable software architecture and production engineering standards.
• Take increasing ownership of application features and technical deliverables as experience grows.

Frontend Engineering & User Interfaces

• Develop responsive, user-friendly interfaces using React and modern JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Implement frontend components supporting internal workflows and operational applications.
• Integrate user interfaces with backend services and application APIs.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to translate requirements into functional features.
• Maintain code quality, usability, and consistency across frontend implementations.

Backend Services & Database Development

• Develop and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Node.js and related technologies.
• Contribute to application logic, service integrations, and internal platform functionality.
• Work with relational databases, including PostgreSQL, to support application requirements.
• Participate in database schema design, data modelling, and query performance improvements.
• Apply foundational engineering principles to improve backend reliability and maintainability.

Software Testing & Production Reliability

• Participate in code reviews, automated testing, and technical documentation.
• Investigate software defects and contribute to troubleshooting production issues.
• Support improvements to application reliability, monitoring, and system observability.
• Learn practical approaches to deployment, debugging, and continuous integration workflows.
• Evaluate engineering trade-offs involving implementation speed, scalability, and maintainability.

AI-Powered Products & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Contribute to internal tools and workflows supporting engineering, operations, and recruiting activities.
• Participate in the development and improvement of AI-powered application features.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, operations, and design stakeholders.
• Explore opportunities to improve workflow efficiency through automation and software development.
• Apply feedback from experienced engineers to strengthen technical judgement and development practices.

Ideal Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Recent graduate or currently approaching graduation.
• Practical software development experience gained through internships, cooperative education, research, or substantial personal projects.
• Strong understanding of JavaScript and/or TypeScript fundamentals.
• Familiarity with frontend development using React or a comparable framework.
• Experience or foundational knowledge of backend development using Node.js.
• Familiarity with NestJS is advantageous.
• Understanding of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
• Foundational knowledge of database schema design and data modelling principles.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and communication between distributed application components.
• Experience using Git and modern software development workflows.
• Understanding of fundamental software engineering principles and maintainable code practices.
