About the job Remote | Front-End UI Evaluation Specialist — Up to $45/hour
We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for front-end engineering professionals experienced in UI implementation, visual document analysis, design specifications, component architecture, task development, and structured technical evaluation.
This role supports a remote benchmark development project focused on evaluating how advanced AI systems interpret visual documents and follow technical instructions within front-end engineering workflows. Selected professionals will create complex, evidence-based tasks using UI screenshots, design specifications, and component diagrams, then define clear reference outputs and objective evaluation criteria.
Key Responsibilities
Visual Document Analysis
- Analyze UI screenshots, design specifications, component diagrams, and related visual materials
- Interpret layout, spacing, typography, component relationships, responsive behaviour, and interface states
- Identify relevant visual and technical details required to complete front-end engineering tasks
- Translate visual information into clear, structured technical requirements
Front-End Task Development
- Author challenging front-end engineering tasks grounded in the supplied visual documents
- Develop realistic problems involving UI reconstruction, component behaviour, styling, layout, and instruction-following
- Ensure each task has a clear scope, sufficient supporting information, and an objectively verifiable outcome
- Calibrate task complexity against professional front-end engineering standards
Reference Output & Rubric Creation
- Produce accurate ground-truth outputs for each assigned task
- Define objective grading criteria covering visual accuracy, functional behaviour, technical correctness, and instruction adherence
- Document expected implementation details, edge cases, and acceptable variations
- Ensure evaluation standards are clear, reproducible, and consistently applicable
Technical Evaluation & Quality Review
- Review task materials for completeness, clarity, difficulty, and technical accuracy
- Evaluate whether proposed solutions align with the visual source material and stated requirements
- Identify ambiguous instructions, missing context, or rubric criteria that could affect reliable scoring
- Incorporate structured feedback and refine tasks efficiently
Ideal Profile
Strong candidates may have:
- Professional experience in front-end software engineering, UI development, or a closely related technical field
- Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern component-based development
- Experience interpreting design specifications, screenshots, wireframes, or component documentation
- Familiarity with responsive design, layout systems, UI states, and reusable component architecture
- Ability to create technically rigorous tasks with clear and measurable outcomes
- Strong written communication and attention to detail
- Availability to contribute approximately 15–20 hours per week
- Current location in the United States or Canada
Educational Background
- A degree in computer science, software engineering, web development, information technology, or a related technical field is helpful
- Professional front-end engineering experience is highly relevant
- Equivalent hands-on experience building production web interfaces or contributing to established technical projects may also be considered
- Practical knowledge of modern UI development will carry significant weight
Nice to Have
- Experience with React, Vue, Angular, TypeScript, or comparable front-end technologies
- Familiarity with Figma, design systems, component libraries, or developer handoff workflows
- Experience translating visual designs into production-ready interfaces
- Knowledge of accessibility, responsive implementation, and cross-browser behaviour
- Background creating technical assessments, benchmark tasks, coding exercises, or evaluation rubrics
- Previous involvement in AI evaluation, structured annotation, or technical quality-review projects
- Experience reviewing front-end code for visual accuracy, maintainability, and instruction compliance
Why This Opportunity
- Apply front-end engineering expertise to structured remote evaluation work
- Contribute to high-quality visual document understanding and instruction-following benchmarks
- Develop realistic tasks grounded in UI screenshots and professional design materials
- Use your ability to connect visual requirements with measurable technical outcomes
- Participate in flexible part-time assignments with competitive hourly compensation
