Construction Solicitor
Location:
Southampton
PQE: NQ 5 Years
Salary: £57,500 £80,000 (DOE)
Type: Permanent, Full-Time (35 hours/week)

The Role:
Our client is a well-established, mid-market law firm that's anything but average. With a strong real estate offering and a growing reputation for high-quality construction work, they're now looking to expand their Southampton team.

They're after a sharp, solutions-focused solicitor who enjoys non-contentious construction work and can tell their JCT from their NEC without breaking into a sweat. You'll be supporting a dynamic partner who's recently joined the team and who brings with them national-quality work and a sense of humour, which helps when you're deep in contract clauses.

You'll get stuck into:

  • Drafting and negotiating building contracts, professional appointments, warranties, development agreements all the good stuff

  • Acting for developers, contractors, consultants, funders and landowners (you'll never be short of variety)

  • Working with colleagues across real estate, finance, and corporate on big-ticket, multi-discipline transactions

  • Helping build out the teams regional presence while staying plugged into national projects

What they're looking for:

  • 2:1 degree or above

  • NQ5 years' PQE with a focus on non-contentious construction

  • Solid understanding of construction procurement methods and standard forms (JCT, NEC etc.)

  • Confident, detail-oriented, and enjoys a bit of client interaction (no hiding behind email)

  • Someone who genuinely enjoys the field whether its new build resi or a multi-million pound infrastructure deal, you're up for it

And now for the perks because contracts are better with benefits:

  • A minimum of 25 days holiday (and the encouragement to use it)

  • Private medical insurance (because Google doesnt have all the answers)

  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay

  • Life assurance and income protection (just in case)

  • Pension contributions matched up to 7%

  • Cycle to work scheme (lycra optional)

  • Interest-free season ticket loans

  • Medical screenings to keep you ticking

  • Payroll giving

  • Employee Assistance Programme

  • Regular yoga and Pilates classes (your back will thank you)

  • Active sports teams if you fancy getting competitive after hours

Why this role?

Because you'll be joining a firm that's busy building something and not just for their clients. There's space to grow here, real collaboration, and people who'll back you to succeed. Plus, you wont be stuck reviewing the same clause for six hours with no daylight unless you really want to.
