Database Developer - Financial Data Platform

An established financial services firm is seeking a Database Developer with strong SQL Server, Snowflake, and Python expertise to help evolve its cloud-based data architecture. This is a hybrid position, requiring 2 days per week in-office near Philadelphia, with flexibility based on onboarding, performance, and manager discretion.

The ideal candidate has a solid background in building scalable, high-performing database systems, experience supporting hybrid cloud environments, and a passion for data-driven problem solving in fast-paced environments.

Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in SQL Server development (T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers)
  • Strong background with SSIS, SSRS, and Visual Studio database projects
  • Experience developing solutions in Snowflake (SnowSQL, Streams, Tasks, stored procedures)
  • Scripting skills in Python for automation, transformation, or orchestration
  • Familiarity with AWS, particularly in hybrid/on-prem data environments
  • Experience with PostgreSQL is a strong plus

  • Understanding of data governance, data security, and enterprise data management standards
  • Clear technical documentation and cross-team collaboration skills
  • Previous exposure to the financial or wealth management sector is a bonus

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support high-volume, high-performance database systems using SQL Server tools
  • Design and optimize stored procedures, ETL pipelines, and reporting solutions
  • Support Snowflake development, including automation and near real-time data workflows
  • Collaborate across departments to define data solutions aligned with business needs
  • Monitor and improve performance of database environments and SQL workloads
  • Document data systems, architecture, and flows clearly and consistently
  • Participate in on-call or off-hours support rotation as needed

Education & Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
  • Ongoing commitment to learning emerging technologies and best practices
