Engineering Technician

Summary

The City of Astoria is currently offering a great opportunity for a responsible, dedicated individual to join our Engineering Division team as an Engineering Technician. The Engineering Technician performs a variety of technical office and field tasks to support the permitting, design, construction, and maintenance of the City's infrastructure. This individual will be hired as an Engineering Technician or Senior Engineering Technician based on their qualifications. Please visit the City's job board for more information: 

Department Overview

The Public Works Department is comprised of Administration, Operations and Engineering divisions. The Engineering division performs all engineering and technical services for the City, including design work and contract administration for the city water system, sanitary sewer system, docks, streets, sidewalks, storm drainage and other public works projects.

SCHEDULE

The regular schedule for this position is Monday Friday, 8:00AM 5:00PM. Occasional overtime and flexibility on hours may be required when working on job sites.

• Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology
• Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Adobe and using online resources.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
• Attention to detail and problem solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
