IBG is recruiting a Safety Advisor for a major transport infrastructure client supporting the operation and maintenance of critical road assets across Sydney.

The role provides professional health and safety advice and support to operational teams across a live TfNSW road environment, working on the development, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of the H&S Management System. It includes a rostered night shift safety support component on a monthly basis.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide specialist, hands-on H&S advice, coaching and support to operational teams
  • Assist in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of H&S policies, standards, procedures and management plans
  • Complete incident and injury investigations using recognised methodologies and root cause analysis
  • Track corrective actions and facilitate the sharing of lessons learned
  • Conduct workplace inspections, audits and assurance activities, including regular H&S plant inspections across company and subcontractor plant
  • Coordinate plant onboarding — liaising with contractors on plant numbers, scheduling site visits, and reporting on onboarding progress
  • Support compliance with legislative, regulatory and contractual requirements
  • Assist in identifying, assessing and controlling workplace hazards and risks
  • Support return-to-work and injury management processes as required
  • Collect, monitor and analyse safety performance data, including leading and lagging indicators, trends and reporting
  • Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, training programs and coaching to employees, supervisors and contractors
  • Support the use and improvement of safety management systems and reporting platforms
  • Deliver rostered night shift safety support on a monthly basis

About You

  • Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety and/or a Diploma or tertiary qualification in OH&S, plus relevant industry experience
  • Current driver's licence
  • Incident investigation qualification (ICAM or equivalent) highly regarded
  • Internal or Lead Auditor training highly regarded
  • 3–5 years' experience in a safety, HSE or operational risk role
  • Experience in road asset maintenance, road infrastructure, civil works or a comparable live operational environment
  • Proven experience engaging with frontline staff, supervisors, managers, clients and regulatory authorities
  • Experience conducting workplace inspections, audits and investigations
  • Working knowledge of WHS legislation and risk management principles
  • Strong analytical, report writing and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Willingness and ability to work rostered night shift as required
