Job Summary
The Data Governance Officer is a pivotal role responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust data governance framework within the organization. This position ensures that data policies and practices aligned with regulatory requirements, enhance data quality, and support the organizations strategic objectives. The Data Governance Officer acts as a liaison between business units and technical teams to foster a data-driven culture and optimize the use of data as a strategic asset.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data integrity, quality, and security across the organization.
Serves as a secretariat for the Data Governance Management Council.
Work closely with business units, data stewards, and IT teams to align data governance strategies with organizational goals and facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
Monitor compliance with data governance policies and standards and implement corrective actions to address data-related risks.
Establish accountability for data stewardship and management across the enterprise, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities.
Develop and deliver training programs and workshops to foster a culture of data literacy and ethical data use within the organization.
Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the effectiveness of data governance initiatives and report on progress to senior management.
Continuously improves Data Governance processes within the organization
Ensures the overall maturity of Data governance and data management practices within the organization
Qualifications and Skills
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
3+ years of proven experience in data governance, data management, or a related role.
Deep knowledge on data management practices (Data Quality, metadata management, master data management and the like)
Strong understanding of data protection regulations and best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Proficiency in data governance tools and technologies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
Data literacy and the ability to translate complex data concepts into actionable insights.
Experience in change management and driving organizational transformation through data initiatives.
