The Senior Systems/Business Analyst will work with data owners, system owners, end users, IT infrastructure and solution delivery teams, and other relevant stakeholders in identifying data and automation requirements for systems and tools of TD, ORM, CTL, and other business units, including third-party packaged solutions.

The Senior Systems/Business Analyst must have a strong understanding of TD, ORM, and CTL business processes, as well as solid knowledge of modules, tables, views, data management, and reporting concepts. His/her expertise in both business and technical domains will support effective requirements gathering and analysis for organizational functions, business cases, and systems enhancements.

The Senior Systems/Business Analyst will coordinate the efforts of multiple process and data analysts within the team and ensure that data and processes are validated based on defined requirements and business logic. He/she will ensure delivery of high-quality project outputs that are aligned with IT Department guidelines and third-party specifications.

The role also includes generating and compiling management reports with findings, causes, and proposed solutions related to systems or tools used for risk management by TD, ORM, and CTL. He/she will apply strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills to help maximize the value of IT system investments.

The Senior Systems/Business Analyst is also expected to resolve system issues, which may include enhancements, development of system packages, procedures, and reports.

He/she will work under the supervision of and report to the IT Department - Digital for Institution Unit, and collaborate closely with decision makers, system owners, and end users of TD, ORM, and CTL.

Scope of Work / Responsibilities

Within an assigned Project Team, the Senior Systems/Business Analyst works with and under the guidance of project leadership to:

  1. Obtain a deep understanding of the clients business processes and operations.

  2. Lead requirements elicitation for new initiatives and enhancements, and produce required artifacts (e.g., Business and Solution Modelling, Business Process Documentation, Functional/Non-Functional Specifications).

  3. Perform root cause analysis and coordinate troubleshooting of operational issues associated with systems or tools.

  4. Plan solutions collaboratively with users and stakeholders, and prepare and maintain related documentation.

  5. Assist in work prioritization for ongoing and future system enhancements, ensuring alignment with the team and business users.

  6. Conduct knowledge sharing, orientations, and training for both technical teams and business users as needed.

  7. For outsourced services, coordinate with external vendors to ensure compliance with planning, execution, and reporting standards. For outsourced development, coordinate with vendor resources for requirements clarification.

  8. Coordinate with QC teams as required and may participate in system integration testing and UAT.

  9. Within assigned IT Support teams, work under ITIN leadership to:

    • Act as Subject Matter Expert in Systems/Business Analysis (e.g., BABOK, BPMN, SDLC, Agile).

    • Develop support team deliverables.

    • Prepare and execute communication plans, presentations, and trainings as required.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education & Work Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Commerce, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology/Management, or Applied Math. Having a minor in Accountancy is a strong advantage.

  • At least 10 years of relevant Systems/Business Analysis experience, with minimum 5 years in a leadership role.

  • At least 10 years of experience in data analysis and data integration.

  • At least 5 years of experience in financial data and application analysis.

Technical Knowledge

  • Working knowledge in data warehousing and reporting tools (e.g., Cognos, Business Objects, Power BI, Tableau).

  • Minimum of 5 years experience loading data from spreadsheets, text files, etc.

  • Must have:

    • Understanding of entity-relationship diagrams and technical reference manuals

    • Knowledge of financial software such as Bloomberg, S&P, Fitch, Moodys

    • Knowledge of React, Microsoft NoSQL database schema, Terraform, and various application modules

    • Knowledge of Python programming and SDK

    • Knowledge of database fundamentals (instance, table, table space, data files, structure, indexes, performance tuning, and troubleshooting)

    • Understanding of Market Data and Analytics

    • Understanding of Risk Management and finance-related software

Soft Skills

  • Excellent English communication (written and oral) and technical documentation skills

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Highly organized and self-motivated

Tools/Software

  • Familiar with scripting languages (e.g., Python)

  • Excellent skills in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)

Certification (if applicable)

  • Solid understanding of the BA Body of Knowledge (BABOK); IIBA Certification is preferred
