About the job Network Administrator
A. Functional (60%)
1. Build and implement new network solutions and/or improve the efficiency of current networks
with focus on Local Area Network and Wide Area Network, traditional and software-defined,
wired and wireless.
2. Install and configure LAN and WAN equipment devices and its software as appropriate.
3. Identify, analyze, recommend and implement appropriate system enhancements that will
improve the local and wide area network for optimum performance.
4. Enforces security protocol on LAN/WAN network devices.
5. Updating of network equipment to the latest firmware releases.
6. Provides project management in the implementation, installation, configuration, and technical
support of LAN and WAN and coordinates projects with the stakeholders.
7. Serves as contact and liaison with vendors; reviews vendor products, and coordinates and
facilitates vendor interviews and presentations.
8. Negotiates technical requirements with vendors; establishes contracts and writes technical
contract specifications and technical recommendations.
9. Work closely with other units on technical activities to include activities involving compliance,
access review and other unit requirements.
10. Identify gaps and recommend improvements to network operations.
B. Request and Issue Resolution (20%)
1. Provides second and third level problem determination and correction.
2. Initiates and recommends actions as required to resolve network concerns
3. Investigate incidents/faults in the local and wide area network
C. Personnel Development (10%)
1. Participate in training programs, seminars, workshops and section meetings.
2. Maintains a broad knowledge of current and LAN and WAN systems
technologies, architectures, and products.
D. Other Functions (10%)
1. Maintain section operating guidelines, standards, procedures, network diagrams and other
documents.
2. Coordinate and assign tickets and tasks to servicing team.
3. Preparation of performance reports, forecasts/projections, and other reports needed by
management on a periodic basis.
4. Participates in administration and implementation of budget policies; and coordinates section
activities relating to budget preparation and data gathering.
5. Research and evaluation of network related tools and emerging network technologies
6. Contributes to the overall success of Network Services by performing other essential duties
as assigned.
