About the Role
The Senior Oracle Applications Database Administrator is responsible for supporting the upgrade and ongoing maintenance of the organizations Oracle eBusiness Suite environment, providing expert-level database administration, performance tuning, automation, and guidance on best practices while collaborating with IT teams and ensuring system stability across all environments.
Scope of Work / Responsibilities
Oracle eBusiness Suite (EBS) Upgrade and Support

Provide support in the ongoing technical upgrade of the Oracle eBusiness Suite from version 12.1.3 to version 12.2.13.

Troubleshoot issues during and after the upgrade with in-depth knowledge of the EBS 12.2 architecture.

Guide the Database Administration Unit on best practices for maintaining an EBS 12.2 environment.

Share knowledge of the EBS 12.2 ecosystem with other database administrators to enhance team capability.
Collaboration and Communication

Assist the Database Administration Unit with Oracle database administration tasks.

Report progress weekly to the Supervisor during team meetings.
-
Work autonomously while coordinating and communicating with other ITID staff including team leads, QA, and developers.
Oracle Database Administration
-
Perform cloning operations.
-
Handle backup and recovery tasks:
-
Export/import for schema refresh.
-
Perform database recovery.
-
Full database restore and recovery.
-
Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR).
-

Implement backup policies and strategies.
-
Configure and administer Oracle Data Guard.
-
Conduct performance tuning activities.
-
Manage storage:
-
Manage tablespaces.
-
Monitor and request disk expansion.
-

Manage users and permissions:
-
Create users and roles.
-
Grant and revoke privileges.
-
Database Monitoring and Issue Resolution
-
Monitor the overall performance of Oracle databases across all environments (development, testing, UAT, SIT, production).
-
Perform daily checks on database availability.
-
Deploy customizations and handle ad hoc requests.
-
Assist the development team with potential application code issues.
Patching and Maintenance

Apply patches to Oracle databases as needed, including bug fixes and security updates.
Software and Tool Management

Manage and maintain tools used by the Database Administration Unit, including:

Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
-
Oracle Application Express (APEX)
-
User and Stakeholder Support
-
Attend to end-user requests and issues by coordinating with relevant ITD units and other departments.
Vendor and External Support Coordination

Liaise with Oracle Support to follow up on internal Service Requests related to Oracle database or Oracle E-Business technology stack.
Automation of DBA Tasks

Automate routine DBA tasks using Ansible or shell scripting, such as:

Monitoring and gathering database and server information.
-
Performing database backups.
-
Regular database cloning and schema refresh.
