About the job Junior/ Graduate Transit & Rail Operations Analyst

Role and Responsibilities

  • Be involved in supporting projects’ tasks with our Railroad and Transit Team with a focus on the development and analysis of operations and service plans

  • Work on tasks requiring analysis of a wide range of transit performance activities, train schedules and service plans, and operating plans applicable to transit agencies and passenger railroads

  • Collect and analyze data associated with service planning and simulation model inputs and outputs

  • Develop an understanding of track and signal drawings, technical specifications, trains schedules and operating plan details becoming proficient in their analysis and application

  • Contribute to preparation of reports pertaining to the project tasks and activities described above 

Knowledge & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Transportation, Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering or related major course of study

  • 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, and full Microsoft office suite

  • Excellent research skills with analytical mindset

  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience

  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment

  • Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives

  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies 

Awesome To Have

  • Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Visio preferred

  • Familiarity with New York and surrounding metropolitan areas rail operations

  • Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline

  • A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations
