Our prestigious international accounting firm is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Associate to join our dynamic Total Services team in either Los Angeles or New York. As a Senior Associate, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a comprehensive suite of accounting and tax services. You will not only manage complex engagements but also contribute to the growth of our clients and the development of our junior staff, all while advancing your career within a supportive and internationally-focused organization.
Your Impact & Responsibilities:
- Engagement Management: Independently manage and process multiple client engagements, ensuring deadlines are met and exceptional service is delivered.
- Tax Expertise: Prepare and review U.S. corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns, with a focus on clients with international operations.
- Financial Analysis & Reporting: Calculate tax provisions and estimated tax payments, providing critical insights for client decision-making. Prepare and compile financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
- Client Advisory: Serve as a trusted advisor, offering guidance on fundamental accounting and tax matters to a diverse client base, including Japanese corporations and their U.S. subsidiaries.
- Team Leadership & Development: Train, supervise, and mentor junior staff, reviewing their work to ensure accuracy and foster their professional growth.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain a strong understanding and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and current U.S. tax rules and regulations.
Qualifications & Skills We Value:
- Experience: 2-3 years of progressive experience in a public accounting firm, with a strong background in tax compliance, compilation, and book review services.
- Education: Bachelors degree (BA/BS) in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field from an accredited college/university.
- Professional Certification: Eligible to sit for the CPA exam (active CPA license is a plus).
- Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of GAAP and/or U.S. tax rules and regulations.
- Bilingual Communication: Fluency in both Japanese and English (reading, writing, and speaking) is essential to effectively liaise with our diverse clientele.
- Leadership & Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated leadership potential, robust problem-solving abilities, solid oral and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and team members.
- Analytical Acumen: Excellent technology, research, and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Adaptability: Proven ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment, managing multiple projects and tasks efficiently and with precision.
