About the Role

Abacus is actively seeking skilled Cloud Integration Engineers to drive enterprise integration and API development efforts as part of a high-impact digital transformation program. This is a hands-on, integration-heavy role focused on building and maintaining robust data flows, service orchestration, and API proxiesnot infrastructure.

You will collaborate with architects, platform leads, and DevOps teams to help modernize legacy systems into scalable, cloud-native integration frameworks using a blend of industry-leading tools and cutting-edge practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement end-to-end integration workflows using visual tools, low-code orchestration platforms, or custom services
  • Develop and manage API proxies, applying key policies such as security, throttling, and data transformation
  • Build backend services or functions to handle business logic within event-driven and message-based architectures
  • Perform data mapping and transformation across heterogeneous formats (JSON, XML, CSV, SOAP)
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for integration assets using tools like GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps
  • Work cross-functionally with QA, DevOps, and Cloud Engineering teams to ensure secure, scalable, and high-performance solutions
  • Author and maintain clear documentation for integration designs, deployment processes, and operational best practices

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience with enterprise integration, middleware, or API/backend service development
  • Strong expertise in REST APIs, API gateways, and data transformation techniques (JSON, XML)
  • Hands-on with message queuing systems such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or ActiveMQ
  • Proficiency in CI/CD workflows and source control (Git, GitLab, Jenkins, Azure DevOps)
  • Agile development experience including participation in stand-ups, sprint planning, and code reviews
  • Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills in distributed, cloud-based environments

Preferred/Good to Have

  • Experience with integration or middleware tools such as MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, Talend, ESBs, or cloud-native orchestration tools
  • Familiarity with API management platforms, especially Apigee (preferred); alternatives like Kong, WSO2, or AWS API Gateway also acceptable
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (GCP preferred, AWS, or Azure)
  • Experience working with event-driven systems or serverless platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Functions, AWS Lambda)
  • Understanding of OAuth2.0, API security, and access control
  • Google Cloud Certifications (Associate Cloud Engineer, Apigee API Engineer) are a strong plus
