Sr. Graphic Designer
Job Description:
About the Role
Design is not decoration — it is communication. At Abacus, we believe that the best design makes people stop, feel, and think. We're looking for a Senior Graphic Designer who doesn't just execute briefs but challenges them. Someone who understands the craft deeply enough to break the rules intelligently, and who finds as much satisfaction in a perfectly-kerned logotype as in a scroll-stopping social campaign.
You'll own the visual identity of an ambitious multi-brand portfolio — from building brands for new intellectual property from scratch, to designing weekly content, event collateral, corporate materials, and everything in between. This role demands range: you'll move between delicate brand systems and high-volume production without dropping quality on either end.
If you follow WWDC the way others follow football, have opinions about Apple's Human Interface Guidelines, and believe spatial design is the next frontier — we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do
Brand Creation & Identity
- Develop brand identities for new IP from the ground up — naming wordmarks, logo systems, color palettes, typography, and usage guidelines.
- Maintain and evolve the visual identity of Abacus and its sub-brands, ensuring coherence and distinctiveness across a diverse portfolio.
- Champion design system thinking: build scalable, reusable asset libraries that teams can use confidently without compromising the brand.
Digital & Social Media Design
- Design weekly social content — posts, carousels, reels covers, banners with a bias for clean, intentional, modern aesthetics.
- Translate campaign messaging into visual narratives that perform across LinkedIn, Instagram, and emerging digital channels.
- Think in formats and adapt assets fluidly across platform dimensions while keeping the visual logic intact.
Events & Marketing Collateral
- Design end-to-end event collateral: booth backdrops, standees, signage, badges, merchandise, and presentation decks for international events.
- Produce brochures, corporate profiles, pitch decks, proposal templates, and document packs that are as impressive physically as they are digitally.
- Prepare all files to print-ready standards — correct bleed, resolution, color profiles, and press-ready specs.
Creative Conceptualization
- Take creative briefs and push them further — bring unexpected concepts to the table before settling on the expected one.
- Contribute actively to campaign brainstorms, bringing visual thinking into strategy conversations early.
- Use motion and interaction references to influence static work; understand how a design will live in the real world.
Collaboration & Creative Leadership
- Work closely with copywriters, marketing managers, and product teams to deliver cohesive, on-brief creative output.
- Mentor junior designers, providing clear, constructive creative feedback that elevates the team's output.
- Manage concurrent projects with confidence, communicating proactively on timelines and flagging risks early.
Who You Are
- You have 4+ years of professional graphic design experience with a portfolio that spans brand identity, digital design, and print collateral.
- You follow Apple design thinking closely — WWDC, HIG, spatial interfaces. You understand why restraint is a design decision, not a limitation.
- Your aesthetic defaults to modern, minimal, and purposeful. You'd rather refine a layout for an hour than add visual noise.
- You think in systems, not one-offs. Your work is reproducible, documented, and built to scale.
- – You're collaborative but opinionated. You can defend a design decision, and you know when to let go of one.
- You're self-directed and thrive in a fast-moving environment with multiple brands, stakeholders, and shifting priorities.
Skills & Tools
Required
- Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign — expert-level proficiency across the full print and digital production pipeline.
- Figma — confident with components, auto-layout, design systems, and collaborative handoff to developers.
- Canva — for high-volume, templatised content creation and team enablement.
- Typography, color theory, grid systems, and visual hierarchy — applied instinctively, not academically.
- Print production knowledge: CMYK, bleed, resolution, preflight, and working with print vendors.
- Strong understanding of modern and minimal design standards — knowing what to remove is as important as knowing what to add.
Preferred
- Adobe After Effects or Premiere Pro — motion graphics and short-form video editing.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted design tools such as Adobe Firefly — using them to accelerate ideation, not replace craft.
- Awareness of Apple's Human Interface Guidelines, WWDC sessions, and spatial/interaction design principles.
- Experience designing for SaaS products or technology brands.
What We Offer
- A creative environment where design has a genuine seat at the table — not just an execution function.
- Ownership over a multi-brand portfolio spanning technology, enterprise software, and community platforms.
- Exposure to international events, campaigns, and product launches across global markets.
- A team that takes design seriously — and invests in the tools, time, and trust to prove it.
