Job Summary
The Fees Clerk is responsible for managing credit control and ensuring the timely processing of fees and billing of legal aid cases. This role involves a high level of interaction with counsel and solicitors, troubleshooting fee-related issues, and maintaining accurate records using the LEX system. The Fees Clerk will also support the Senior Fees Clerk in various fee related tasks and cover their responsibilities during leave periods.
Key Responsibilities
- Submitting AGFS claims through the LAA portal and processing prosecution fees.
- Managing all aspects of dealing with outstanding fees using both the LEX system and direct requests from counsel and replying to email correspondence about fee queries.
- Troubleshooting fees that require attention.
- Working closely with the Senior Fees Clerk to resolve difficult or unpaid fees.
- Providing aged debt and payment summary reports as required.
- Managing unbilled cases
- Covering the Senior Fees Clerk responsibilities during leave periods, including managing payments
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Fees Clerk or in a similar financial role.
- Proficiency with the LEX system.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of relevant funding regulations.
Working Conditions
- Full-time position based on a 40 hour working week.
- Location: Predominantly working from Chambers brand new premises in the heart of legal London but with the possibility of some remote working.
- Salary commensurate with experience
