Job Summary:

7 Kings Bench Walk (7KBW) are looking for a reliable and personable IT Support Engineer to join them in a standalone role at the heart of chambers. This is not a high-volume helpdesk position - its a steady, hands-on role where you can take ownership of IT support, anticipate issues before they arise, and help ensure everything runs smoothly for their barristers and staff; a client base of about 100 people.

Youll be the first port of call for day-to-day IT matters, supported by 7KBWs external provider and consultant CIO. The environment is collegiate and professional. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who values autonomy, likes to solve problems proactively, and takes real satisfaction in helping people work effectively without IT getting in their way.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for IT support, addressing hardware, software and network issues for PCs and Macs.
  • Perform user administration tasks, including password resets, account management, quotas, permissions and licence assignments using Entra ID.
  • Build, configure and deploy new machines for staff and members, ensuring all necessary applications and settings are installed and configured.
  • Provide responsive and effective helpdesk support, triaging and resolving calls in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain and update IT documentation, including procedures, asset registers and user guides.
  • Troubleshoot basic networking issues and liaise with external providers for advanced support when necessary.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to support business operations and ensure IT systems are aligned with our needs.
  • Support IT-related onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring seamless transitions.
  • Occasional involvement in IT projects, supporting our MSP with implementation where needed or desired.
  • Stay current with the latest IT trends and emerging technologies to recommend improvements where applicable.
  • Assist in the procurement, deployment and management of IT equipment and software as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar IT support role, ideally within a legal or other professional services environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems, including setup and ongoing support and other common business applications.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve technical issues promptly.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly to non-technical staff and members.
  • Familiarity with user administration via Microsoft 365 Entra and other related tools.
  • A self-motivated approach with the confidence and ability to work independently.
  • A relevant degree or certifications, such as CompTIA or ITIL Foundation, are desirable but not essential.
  • A commitment to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality and integrity required.
