Our client, Falcon Chambers is a very busy specialist property set of chambers with 47 barristers (17 Silks).
Due to increasing workload they are looking for an experienced junior clerk to assist their First Junior and Senior Clerk with their Silks practice group. The successful candidate should have a minimum of 2 years clerking experience, ideally in commercial/chancery sets.
The position is to assist the First Junior and Senior Clerk in the administration of the Silks Practice Group. Dealing with e-mails, monitoring and administering the clerks e-mail inbox, chasing-up replies, assisting in preparing for Practice Meetings and taking notes at these meetings, listing and dealing with associated documents. This is a position that allows candidates to be assisting with some of the most prominent property silks practices. It is also a position that allows for growth and development.
Candidates should be familiar with the Microsoft suite of programmes, Zoom and the Lex Chambers system.
Operational, Clerking Responsibilities
- Assisting in dealing with professional enquiries with regard to senior members of chambers practices.
- Organising bookings, listings and general diary management for members of chambers. Ensuring that opportunities are recorded. Ensuring that thorough conflict checks are made on each new case, and the case entered accurately onto the LEX system.
- Circulating meeting details for conferences via Teams or Zoom.
- Managing Clerks inbox.
- Liaising with Practice Managers, members of chambers as necessary about court, conference, and general practice bookings. Such bookings to be made in an efficient and accurate manner.
- Assisting with reviewing senior members diaries, to determine that fees have been agreed, billing has been done, following-up fee quotes on-going task lists and general liaison with Instructing Solicitors.
- Assisting Practice Managers with e-mails for their team. Sending responses and where necessary liaising with Instructing Solicitors.
- Maintain and develop good professional relationships with regard to members of chambers, members of staff, Courts, Instructing Solicitors, and colleagues in other chambers.
- Communicating as soon as possible with the Senior Clerk, members of chambers and if appropriate Instructing Solicitors when a potential diary problem or clash becomes evident.
Administration and other duties
- Producing reports for senior marketing team.
- Covering Arbitration inbox in the absence of Arbitration Clerk.
- Participate and contribute to Clerking and Staff meetings.
- Where required participate in other project groups from time to time.
- To observe and adhere to all policies contained within the Staff Handbook.
- To attend events as a representative of Falcon Chambers when required.

- Numerate and with an eye for detail.
- Able to work on their own initiative.
- Flexibility to provide assistance to other team members.
