Role Overview

They are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Junior Fees Clerk to join their Fees Team. Reporting to the Senior Fees Clerk, you will provide essential administrative and operational support to ensure the smooth running of the chambers financial processes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the start of their career who is eager to learn and develop within a highly regarded legal environment.


Key Responsibilities

· Assist the Senior Fees Clerk and Fees Team with all aspects of fee management, debt recovery, and credit control.

· Support the accurate recording and tracking of outstanding fees and debts, including updating records and scheduling follow-up actions.

· Help maintain effective relationships with clients and their finance teams, responding to routine queries and requests.

· Assist in chasing aged debts for barristers, providing updates to the Senior Fees Clerk as required.

· Help keep barristers informed about the status of their aged debts, ensuring clear and timely communication.

· Support the processing of BACS payments to barristers and the maintenance of accurate financial records.

· Assist in monitoring large client firms and implementing procedures to control and reduce aged debts.

· Help generate and issue reminder fee notes and reports, ensuring compliance with chambers procedures.

· Liaise with solicitors and the clerking team on straightforward matters, escalating more complex issues as needed.

· Assist in preparing monthly and ad hoc reports on debt recovery, aged debts, and payment trends.

· Maintain accurate and comprehensive hard copy and electronic records in line with chambers standards.

· Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for process improvements.


Skills & Qualifications

· Minimum 2 years experience as Junior Fees Clerk.

· Previous administrative experience or exposure to fee management (including Lex case management software) is desirable but not essential.

· A keen interest in developing a career within a barristers chambers or legal environment.

· Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.

· Clear and effective written and verbal communication.

· Willingness to learn and take direction from senior team members.

· Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

· Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
