About the job Remote Accountant
A growing Melbourne-based Accounting firm is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Accountant to join our remote team. This position offers flexibility for candidates ranging from junior to intermediate skill levels, with compensation of $6-8 USD per hour based on experience and capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Bookkeeping: Manage daily bookkeeping and account reconciliation in Xero with precision
- Financial Processing: Process accounts receivable, accounts payable, and assist with payroll functions
- Tax Support: Support the preparation of workpapers for Australian tax clients
- Reporting: Maintain financial records and prepare regular reports
- Data Analysis: Utilise Excel for financial data analysis and reporting
- Tax Preparation: Assist with individual, company, and trust tax returns using Xero Tax
- Quality Assurance: Review and verify the accuracy of bookkeeping entries, reconciliations and financial reports prepared by other team members
- Quality Control: Identify and correct discrepancies in financial records and ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards
- Process Improvement: Suggest and implement improvements to existing bookkeeping workflows
Required Skills:
- Strong proficiency in Xero accounting software (Xero advisor certification preferred)
- Experience with Xero reporting functions and dashboard customisation
- Skills in Microsoft Excel, including financial modelling, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP
- Experience with Australian individual, company, and trust tax returns (desired for intermediate level)
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Self-motivation with ability to work independently
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and backup power source
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
