The American College of Thessaloniki (ACT) is seeking applications for a faculty position in Psychology at the rank of Associate/Full Professor who would also serve as the Coordinator of the BS in Psychology and MS in Industrial & Organizational Psychology programs. The position is a full-time assignment for one year starting July 1st, 2025 and may be renewable upon agreement of all parties. In addition to teaching/scholarly work, the Psychology Coordinator will provide a high standard of academic-related administrative support to the program under the guidance of the Chair of the Humanities and Social Sciences. In return, the Coordinator will enjoy a limited teaching load.

The Coordinator will directly report to and closely work with the Division Chair to plan and implement the following activities:

  • Plan, schedule and staff all courses for the Psychology programs, and those that are offered as service to other majors/special programs according to college, discipline, and departmental guidelines.
  • Review, evaluate, and revise program curricula and practices to assure compliance with academic and professional standards as well as state-mandated & accreditation and validation guidelines.
  • Plan and offer such courses as appropriate for students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course objectives and inform them of their progress in the course in a timely manner.
  • Advise students on an individual basis regarding the courses they need to take in order to graduate.
  • Keep accurate student records and submit related annual reports and forms within the requested timelines.
  • Establish new or reinforce existing relations with relevant parties/institutions and aim to increase student employability via internships or joint academic/professional trainings.
  • Coordinate the hiring process of new faculty and evaluate all Psychology faculty on an annual basis.
  • Assist in promotional activities of the program and other related programs in conjunction with the Marketing and Enrollment offices.
  • Organize program-related workshops, activities and events.

  • Participate in standing or ad hoc committees and oversee the daily administration of the program.

Position Requirements

  • A doctoral Degree in Counselling Psychology or Neuropsychology or Social Psychology is required.
  • A minimum of 5-year University/College level teaching experience or other relevant work experience is required. University/College level teaching experience at a US-accredited higher education institution is preferred. British higher education experience is also important.
  • Published work in peer-reviewed journals and conferences commensurable with the rank of Associate/Full Professor.

  • Proficiency in teaching and course delivery

  • Knowledge of the latest teaching benchmarks and evolving teaching and learning trends
  • Use of effective methodologies and support activities that encourage student learning
  • Experience in an environment with sensitivity to people of diverse academic and cultural backgrounds
  • Strong interpersonal and team development skills

  • Self-discipline and ability to effectively manage others

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English as well as proficiency in online teaching platforms. Please note that the official language of ACT is English; proficiency in written and oral English is essential
  • Knowledge and skill in a variety of computer usage and software are required

  • Degrees from foreign colleges/universities outside Greece must be recognized by DOATAP.

Copies of all relevant transcripts must be initially submitted with your application for consideration. OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS ARE REQUIRED AT TIME OF EMPLOYMENT.
