Shift Engineer Food Manufacturing

We are looking for a hands-on Shift Engineer to join a busy food manufacturing operation. In this role, you'll play a key part in keeping production machinery running smoothly, performing maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventive and reactive maintenance on production equipment.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults to minimize downtime.

  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new machinery.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records for compliance and performance tracking.

  • Work closely with production teams to ensure optimal equipment performance.

  • Follow health and safety procedures to maintain a safe workplace.

What Were Looking For

  • Relevant engineering qualification or time-served apprenticeship in mechanical or electrical engineering.

  • Practical experience in a manufacturing or food processing environment.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.

  • Flexible and willing to work rotating shifts (7/14, days and nights).

  • Proactive problem-solver with good communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable: PLC experience, exposure to continuous improvement programs, multiskilled in both mechanical and electrical disciplines.
