Mechanical Design Engineer (Ammonia Refrigeration)
About the job Mechanical Design Engineer (Ammonia Refrigeration)
Responsibilities and duties:
- Interpret project contracts and scope covering Industrial Refrigeration, Commercial Refrigeration Racks, and HVAC Ventilation.
- Prepare and verify pre‑design specifications, block flow diagrams, and system layouts.
- Ensure all designs comply with required standards, specifications, and regional regulations.
- Manage BIM procedures in line with BS 1192, PAS 1192‑5, and BS 8536‑2.
- Lead equipment selection and approvals within the design scope.
- Perform refrigeration system design, analysis, and calculations (heat load, HVAC, thermal, pipe stress, vibration, seismic, etc.).
- Develop drawings and documentation for design review, approval, coordination, and IFC submissions.
- Conduct clash detection, value engineering, and prepare BOM/BOQ.
- Produce AutoCAD/REVIT/BIM deliverables aligned with company standards.
- Review redlines, sketches, and work scopes to produce accurate mechanical plans.
- Coordinate project timelines and ensure timely completion of all drawings and documents.
- Review designs prepared by other team members and provide technical guidance.
- Support the development of design conventions and ensure consistency across projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Superior Computer Skills; (Revit MEP, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office).
- Strong knowledge of Refrigeration and HVAC design principles.
- Knowledge of thermodynamic principles is an added advantage
- Experience working with large site‑built ammonia refrigeration systems
