Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Water System Supervisor to oversee engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations of water and utility systems in a greenfield project environment. This role ensures safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operations of Water Treatment Plants (WTP), Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP), Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems, and related utility infrastructure. The position requires technical expertise in operations and maintenance, strong vendor and stakeholder coordination, and strict adherence to environmental, safety, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Technical Oversight (10%)

Execute equipment, piping, and structural works related to water and utility systems.

Review technical specifications, datasheets, and design documents.
-
Support fabrication and erection activities in line with standards.

Construction & Project Supervision (30%)
-
Monitor daily construction progress and ensure quality compliance.
-
Coordinate with contractors and mobilize resources effectively.
-
Review and track project progress to meet deadlines.
-
Prepare and review Method Statements and Job Safety Analyses (JSA).

Resolve technical and operational issues on-site.

Vendor & Resource Management (10%)
-
Manage vendor coordination, material delivery, and inventory.
-
Optimize manpower and equipment allocation.

Health, Safety & Environment (10%)
-
Enforce EHS standards across operations and projects.
-
Promote proactive safety culture, hazard reporting, and near-miss management.
-
Conduct toolbox talks, inductions, and refresher safety training.

Operations & Maintenance (30%)
-
Oversee daily operation of WTP, WWTP, ZLD, and cooling towers.
-
Monitor chemical dosing, water quality parameters, and equipment performance.

Conduct preventive and breakdown maintenance of pumps, filters, membranes, and auxiliary equipment.

Ensure smooth power & utility shift operations with zero accidents.

Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues during plant operations.

Documentation & Reporting (10%)

Maintain accurate records of operational logs, water quality tests, and chemical usage.
-
Document daily progress, issues, and resolutions.
-
Support internal/external audits, permits, inspections, and statutory compliance.

Maintain engineering records, maintenance logs, and as-built documentation.

Key Challenges

Ensuring uninterrupted utility operations under tight schedules and resource constraints.

Maintaining compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

Coordinating with multiple departments and contractors in a high-pressure operational environment.

Managing quick turnaround in emergency breakdowns without affecting plant reliability.
Qualifications & Skills
-
Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline.

Experience: 3-5 years in power plant or utility operations, with at least 2 years as Shift Incharge.

Industry Background: Water treatment plants, wastewater plants, laboratories, power plants, chemicals, petroleum.

Technical Expertise:
-
Hands-on experience with WTP, WWTP, STP, oily water systems, cooling towers, and ZLD.

Knowledge of Honeywell DCS and IBR regulations.
-
Proficiency in SAP and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
-
Familiarity with industry standards (ASME, IS, IBR, etc.).
