Job Purpose

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to oversee the engineering, construction, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical systems for a large-scale greenfield project. The role requires ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance with technical and quality standards, while driving timely project execution through effective vendor coordination and stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering Design & Technical Expertise (20%)

    • Execute structural, equipment, and piping works.

    • Review and interpret technical specifications, datasheets, and design documents.

    • Supervise fabrication and erection of structural and piping works.

    • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (ASME, ASTM, API, etc.).

  • Construction Supervision & Management (30%)

    • Monitor daily construction activities and ensure adherence to quality standards.

    • Coordinate with contractors for timely mobilization of resources.

    • Review and track progress to ensure on-time completion.

    • Resolve on-site technical issues promptly.

    • Prepare and review Method Statements and Job Safety Analyses (JSA).

  • Vendor & Resource Management (20%)

    • Oversee material delivery and inventory management.

    • Allocate manpower and equipment effectively for smooth execution.

    • Optimize resource utilization to achieve project efficiency.

  • Health, Safety & Environment (10%)

    • Implement global EHS standards.

    • Ensure all contractors comply with safety requirements.

    • Promote behavior-based safety and proactive hazard reporting.

    • Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, and refresher training.

    • Encourage reporting of near misses and corrective actions.

  • Maintenance of Mechanical Systems (10%)

    • Review preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.

    • Monitor plant equipment for continuous improvement.

    • Ensure compliance with shutdown maintenance activities.

    • Analyze non-conformances and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).

    • Maintain equipment history and ensure smooth operations.

  • Documentation & Reporting (10%)

    • Maintain accurate daily progress reports and issue resolutions.

    • Compile QA/QC and safety reports.

    • Ensure documentation of design changes, permits, trainings, audits, and statutory compliance.

    • Keep complete records of engineering and as-built documentation.

Key Challenges

  • Managing structural, equipment, and piping construction under tight timelines.

  • Coordinating multi-vendor interfaces and resolving technical issues efficiently.

  • Ensuring high safety and quality standards across all project stages.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Experience: 8-12 years in construction management or manufacturing plants, with at least 2-3 years in greenfield or large-scale industrial projects.

  • Technical Expertise:

    • Knowledge of ASME, ASTM, API, IBR, IS standards.

    • Strong understanding of quality standards and NDT certification.

    • Proficiency in SAP and MS Office (especially Excel).

  • Behavioral Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.

  • Other Requirements:

    • Open to travel and site-based work during project stages.

    • Strong presentation and data analysis skills.
