1) Job Purpose
To lead mechanical maintenance and support the execution of mechanical scope during the project and operational phases. This includes ensuring mechanical reliability, managing one-time capital (OTC) and improvement projects, driving statutory compliance, and overseeing plant modifications and expansions in alignment with Thai regulatory requirements and global standards.

Customers: Project team during project phase; functional and department heads during operations; vendors and contractors (manpower & materials)

Technology: Knowledge of new safety devices, DCS, SAP, continuous manufacturing process, and advanced process/utility equipment
3) Job Context & Major Challenges
Job Context:
The Rayong plant is a greenfield carbon black manufacturing unit requiring high mechanical reliability and statutory compliance. The Mechanical Maintenance Manager plays a critical role in managing end-to-end mechanical functions from installation and commissioning during the project phase to ensuring long-term reliability during operations.
Job Challenges:

Leading mechanical commissioning in coordination with design consultants, our clients global engineering team, contractors, and internal stakeholders

Managing statutory inspections and certifications with DIW and other authorities
-
Balancing cost, compliance, and reliability in a dynamic regulatory environment

Developing local Thai vendors while ensuring quality and timely delivery
4) Principal Accountabilities
Mechanical Maintenance Management (20% post-SOP)
-
Lead planning, scheduling, and execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for all mechanical equipment
-
Resolve equipment failures using root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
-
Maintain equipment history and performance KPIs in CMMS
-
Coordinate planned shutdowns and turnaround activities
Project Execution Support (45%)
-
Support project phase including design reviews, site execution, mechanical installation, and pre-commissioning
-
Lead installations and punch-list closures
-
Ensure system readiness and compliance with design intent
Asset Integrity & Reliability (10%)
-
Implement reliability engineering practices like RCM, FMEA
-
Ensure compliance with international standards and codes
-
Manage condition monitoring (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, etc.)
Spare Parts Management (5%)
-
Identify critical spares and review consumption monthly
-
Monitor procurement in coordination with Purchase and Stores departments
OTC (CAPEX) Plant Modifications, Expansion & Improvement Projects (5%)

Plan and execute CAPEX and improvement projects for efficiency, safety, and compliance

Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and finance for timely delivery

Ensure compliance with TIS, DIW, and safety norms
Safety & Risk Management (5%)

Enforce safety practices such as LOTO and permit-to-work

Conduct HAZID, risk assessments, toolbox talks

Ensure compliance with OHS and factory safety standards
Team and Vendor Development (5%)

Build and mentor a competent team of engineers and technicians

Drive training, skill development, and succession planning

Develop local vendors and fabricators
Budgeting & Cost Control (5%)

Prepare and monitor annual maintenance budgets

Drive cost-saving initiatives and optimize spares usage
5) Job Purpose of Direct Reports
To supervise plant-level mechanical maintenance and ensure asset reliability for trouble-free operations.
6) Relationships
Internal (Daily):
Production, Utilities, Projects, EHS, Procurement, Stores Coordination for maintenance, shutdowns, and projects
External:

DIW, third-party inspectors, vendors, and fabricators Coordination for inspections, permits, execution, and supplies (on-site or on-call, daily)

Contractors and vendors (manpower & materials) Weekly engagement for orders, delivery, and dispute resolution
7) Ideal Persona for the Role
Functional Knowledge and Skills:

Proficient in SAP PM or similar CMMS
-
Knowledge of ASME, API, ISO standards and Thai regulations (DIW, TIS, Labor Laws)

Familiar with Lean Maintenance, Six Sigma, TPM

Strong analytical and decision-making abilities

Effective cross-functional and multicultural collaboration

Budgeting and spares management experience

Experienced in internal and third-party audits
Education & Experience:
-
B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Thai Council of Engineers license preferred)

Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical maintenance and project execution within continuous process industries (carbon black, petrochemical, chemical)

Familiarity with Thailand's statutory maintenance framework
Behavioral Skills:
