The Workday HRIS Project Manager will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of Workday projects, from initial planning and scope definition to execution, deployment, and post-go-live support. This role requires a deep understanding of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), with a focus on Workday, and proven expertise in project management methodologies. The Project Manager will ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget, while also managing stakeholder expectations and mitigating risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership & Management: Lead and oversee Workday implementation, upgrade, and optimization projects. This includes developing detailed project plans, managing budgets, and allocating resources to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders, including HR, IT, and senior leadership. Provide regular project status updates, manage expectations, and facilitate effective communication across all teams.
  • HRIS Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert for the Workday platform, particularly for core HRIS functions such as HCM, Payroll, Absence, and Benefits. Translate business requirements from HR and other departments into technical specifications for the development team.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Proactively identify, track, and manage project risks and issues. Develop mitigation strategies and escalate critical problems to leadership as needed to ensure smooth project progression.
  • Change Management: Drive organizational change and user adoption by developing and executing comprehensive change management and communication plans. This includes training end-users and creating documentation.
  • Vendor & Partner Management: Coordinate and manage relationships with external Workday implementation partners and other third-party vendors to ensure project alignment and successful delivery.


Required Workday Experience & Certifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience in project management, with a strong focus on HRIS platforms like Workday.
  • Demonstrable experience with at least one full lifecycle Workday implementation.
  • While not always required, certifications such as the Workday HCM Certification and Workday Project Management Certification (if available) are highly preferred.

Other Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Asana).
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional project management certifications (e.g., PMP, Agile Certified Professional) are a significant plus.
