We specialize in showcasing the awe-inspiring natural beauty of Northern Norway and our activities include exclusive bucket list experiences such as snowmobiling, Northern Light tours, whale watching, king crab safari, as well as corporate and private trips tailored to meet the specific needs and preference to our clients. Our portfolio also includes premium Scandinavian-inspired hotels and a restaurant serving both Norwegian and international cuisine designed to showcase the best of Northern Norway.
We are already planning the winter season and are currently looking for skilled guides who want to join our small and passionate guide team for the next season. The job is for the Whale season and we are looking for both full time and part time guides.
How is a typical day at work?
There is no secret that in the guide profession most things are happening at different hours of the day and you can expect to be working at daytime, evening, weekends and in holidays. You will be guiding both independently and in a team to ensure that our guests gets the best possible experience wherever the adventure takes them.
As a boat guide, you will take guests out on unforgettable whale safaris and fjord adventures.
Your main tasks include: Guiding whale watching tours and sharing stories about Arctic wildlife and local culture. Preparing and securing equipment before and after tours. Ensuring guest safety and following company routines and maritime regulations. Creating a welcoming, informative, and memorable experience for visitors from all over the world. This is an active outdoor job with variable hours, weekends, and holidays.
The job involves all tasks from planning, pre- and post-tour preparations, guest reception and storytelling during the tour. You will also be responsible for routines and company guidelines is being followed up and taken care of so that both guided tours, equipment and the safety of our guests are taken care of in the best possible way. Your colleagues and guests will be people from all around the world and its therefore important that you have good English language skills. A Scandinavian language or other languages is an advantage, but not a requirement.
Many of our employees stay at Æventyr for several years once they have been employed, and there are many career opportunities in our company if you wish.
To be employed as a guide in Æventyr, you are required to have a number of important qualities and qualifications;
- You have experience from working as a skipper and whale guide for adventure-based companies.
- You have certifications. boat drivers license D5L equivalent and the safety course needed to drive with guests, mimimum to drive a boat with up to 12 passengers
- You have experience in creating comprehensive guest experiences in the wilderness
- You believe that travel should be an immersive and transformative experience, and are dedicated to providing our guest with unforgettable adventures that will stay with them for a lifetime.
- You have a class B driver's license.
- You have a licence to drive with passengers or are willing to take this
- To have first aid course is an advantage
- You are service minded and generous to the people around you.
- You speak English fluently, but preferably also other languages.
- You enjoy a varied working day and can handle unforeseen situations in a way that does not harm you, your colleagues and our guests.
- You are enthusiastic, flexible and safety-focused.
- You like to work at different times, i.e. day, evening, night, weekend and holidays.
- You are a team player, but also work well independently.
- Are over 18 years old.
