Job Title: Senior Care Assistant (Nights)
Location: Great Yarmouth
Salary: £12.80 per hour 
Hours: 42 hours over two week period

My client is currently seeking an experienced Senior Care Assistant to join the team and help deliver exceptional care.

Main Purpose of the Role:

As a Senior Care Assistant, you will play a key role in planning, implementing, and supervising the provision of quality care. You will ensure that residents retain their dignity and individuality while maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, staff, and visitors. You will also be actively involved in the general activities of the home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Deputy/Home Manager in maintaining the highest standards of professional care.
  • Support management in ensuring appropriate staffing levels at all times.
  • Monitor and assist in the performance and development of care staff.
  • Facilitate staff feedback mechanisms and attend regular team meetings.
  • Conduct thorough shift handovers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Oversee medication administration and ensure compliance with policies.
  • Monitor and audit medication records for accuracy and legality.
  • Arrange and document medical visits, liaising with healthcare professionals.
  • Support the admission process for new residents, including suitability assessments.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate resident records, ensuring regular updates.
  • Assist in implementing policies, procedures, and compliance measures.
  • Report incidents, accidents, and maintenance issues to management.
  • Carry out necessary risk assessments and audits.

Care Delivery and Planning:

  • Contribute to residents' care assessments and the development of care plans.
  • Ensure care plans are updated daily and reviewed monthly.
  • Organize and participate in social activities tailored to residents' preferences.
  • Provide direct hands-on care, supporting residents personal needs.
  • Uphold the emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being of residents.
  • Encourage residents to make decisions that affect their quality of life.
  • Ensure dignity and respect in the event of a resident's passing.
  • Supervise mealtimes, ensuring nutritional standards are met.
  • Maintain hygiene and cleanliness in all home areas.

Training and Development:

  • Maintain up-to-date mandatory and additional training.
  • Assist in staff induction, supervision, and training needs identification.
  • Ensure agency staff receive proper induction upon arrival.

General Duties:

  • Adhere to all company policies, including health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Foster positive relationships with residents, families, and colleagues.
  • Represent the care home positively within the local community.

What Were Looking For:

  • Previous experience in a Senior Care Assistant or similar role.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong knowledge of medication administration and care planning.
  • A compassionate, professional, and proactive approach to care.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or working towards).
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and bank holidays as needed.
