Overview

We are seeking a highly organised and experienced Senior Bookkeeper (Xero) to support a UK-based accounting firm by managing bookkeeping for a portfolio of client accounts.

This role involves working across multiple client entities, maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, and ensuring each clients accounts are fully up to date and ready for accountant review.

This is a client-facing accounting practice environment requiring strong technical capability, independence, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage bookkeeping for multiple client entities simultaneously

  • Maintain and manage client accounts within Xero

  • Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Post, allocate, and categorise financial transactions accurately

  • Maintain general ledgers and ensure account accuracy

  • Prepare client accounts to trial balance level

  • Assist with onboarding new client entities into Xero

  • Set up and maintain charts of accounts

  • Clean up and correct historical bookkeeping issues where required

  • Support month-end and year-end accounting processes

  • Ensure client accounts are complete, accurate, and up to date

  • Work closely with accountants to support financial reporting and compliance

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years bookkeeping experience in an accounting firm environment
  • Strong hands-on experience with Xero (essential)

  • Experience managing multiple clients simultaneously

  • Strong reconciliation experience

  • Ability to prepare accounts to trial balance

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Strong organisational and time management skills

  • Ability to work independently

Preferred

  • Experience working with UK accounting firms or UK clients

  • Experience with Hubdoc, Dext, or similar tools

  • Bookkeeping or accounting qualification advantageous
