About the Opportunity

A leading national advisory firm is seeking a Senior Associate to join its high-performing Internal Audit Financial Services team. The firm partners with top talent and provides consulting services to a wide range of clients, including community banks, mid-size and regional financial institutions, fintechs, mortgage companies, broker-dealers, investment companies, and real estate lenders.

Responsibilities

    • Partner with dynamic project teams to execute internal audit engagements across the financial services industry, including regulated financial institutions and fintech organizations.
    • Advise stakeholders on governance, risk management, and internal control programs (Regulatory and Operational Audit).
    • Develop process narratives, identify key controls, and evaluate the design of internal controls.
    • Conduct operating effectiveness testing, including sample selection and attribute testing.
    • Present audit results to process owners, internal audit leaders, and executive stakeholders.
    • Communicate complex issues clearly and concisely to both clients and team members.
    • Produce high-quality deliverables requiring minimal review time.
    • Enhance technical and project management capabilities through ongoing feedback, mentorship, evaluations, and firm-sponsored training, including monthly CPE and SME programs.
    • Serve as a primary client contact and respond to client needs promptly and professionally.
    • Manage competing priorities while maintaining engagement progress and reducing client disruption.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Economics, Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial services within a public accounting firm, consulting firm, or financial institution, with emphasis on internal audit, risk, or compliance.
  • Experience working with banking products, services, regulatory environments, and lines of business. Exposure to regional, super-regional, or global banks is highly preferred.
  • Foundational understanding of banking terminology, regulators, risks, and controls, with hands-on experience applying them in risk-based audits.
  • Strong people, project, and client management skills developed through professional work environments.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences.
  • Ability to simplify complex topics and guide stakeholders through key issues and recommendations.
  • Adaptability to shifting timelines, deadlines, and scope of work.
