Overview
We are seeking an experienced MEP Package Manager/Engineer for our established international client in Malaysia to oversee the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) scope for building and infrastructure projects based in Kuala Lumpur & Melaka. This role is responsible for overall coordination, technical compliance, cost, schedule, and quality of the MEP packages from design through to testing, commissioning, and handover.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project & Package Management

  • Lead and manage the full MEP package for assigned projects (design, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover).

  • Develop and monitor MEP work plans, schedules, and progress in line with overall project programme.

  • Coordinate between main contractor, consultants, MEP subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives.

  • Identify risks, constraints, and interface issues early, and drive timely resolution.

2. Technical & Design Coordination

  • Review and validate MEP design drawings, shop drawings, and technical submissions to ensure compliance with project specifications, local codes, and authority requirements.

  • Coordinate MEP services layouts to avoid clashes and ensure proper integration with architectural and structural elements (including BIM/Revit coordination where applicable).

  • Provide technical guidance and solutions to site teams and subcontractors.

3. Site Execution & Quality Control

  • Oversee site installation works for HVAC, electrical, ELV, plumbing, fire protection, and related systems.

  • Ensure that all works are executed according to approved drawings, method statements, and QA/QC procedures.

  • Conduct regular site inspections, technical walks, and quality checks; close out non-conformances promptly.

  • Monitor manpower, materials, and equipment utilisation for MEP works to ensure productivity and efficiency.

4. Cost, Procurement & Commercial Support

  • Support quantity take-offs, MEP cost estimates, and budget monitoring for the package.

  • Coordinate with procurement on material specifications, vendor evaluations, and comparison of quotations.

  • Review and verify subcontractor claims, variation orders, and supporting documentation.

5. Testing, Commissioning & Handover

  • Plan and manage testing and commissioning schedules for all MEP systems.

  • Coordinate with specialist vendors for functional testing, integration testing, and performance verification.

  • Prepare and review handover documentation including O&M manuals, as-built drawings, test reports, and training for end-users.

6. Regulatory & Authority Liaison

  • Ensure adherence to Malaysian codes and standards, including relevant requirements from local authorities.

  • Liaise with consultants and client representatives on design clarifications, technical queries (RFI), and inspections.

7. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare regular progress reports on MEP works, highlighting key issues, risks, and mitigation actions.

  • Maintain proper documentation for technical submissions, approvals, site instructions, and correspondences.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related field.

  • For Package Manager: typically 610 years of experience in MEP roles on building/infrastructure projects.

  • For Engineer: typically 36 years of relevant MEP project experience.

  • Proven experience managing MEP packages on at least one full-cycle project (e.g. high-rise, commercial, hospital, industrial, or infrastructure).

  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems: HVAC, power distribution, ELV, plumbing, sanitary, fire protection, and related services.

  • Familiar with local codes, standards, and authority processes.

  • Proficient in MS Office; experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit/BIM is an advantage.

  • Strong coordination, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia; additional languages will be an advantage.

  • Willing to be based in Kuala Lumpur and travel to project sites as required.
